Under the plans, the frontline would be frozen, which would allow Putin to keep almost all of the territory it has gained – including much of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.<\/p>\n
Zelensky has said that he will not relinquish Crimea permanently to the Russians.<\/p>\n
He told reporters: \u201cOur position is unchanged: only the Ukrainian people have the right to decide which territories are Ukrainian. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe constitution of Ukraine says that all the temporarily occupied territories \u2026 belong to Ukraine, to the Ukrainian people.\u201d<\/p>\n
His resistance was echoed by the Ukrainian deputy foreign minister, Mariana Betsa, who said Ukraine will do \u201cwhatever it takes\u201d to take back the region.<\/p>\n

Crimea is Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n She also said they will \u201cnever recognise the attempted annexation by Russia\u201d and will do \u201cwhatever it takes\u201d to keep the region.<\/p>\n However, Klitschko, who is an ex-heavyweight boxing champion, said that Ukraine may have to relinquish land as part of a peace deal which would end the killing.<\/p>\n \u201cOne of the scenarios is \u2026 to give up territory. It\u2019s not fair,\u201d Klitschko told the BBC. \u201cBut for the peace, temporary peace, maybe it can be a solution, temporary.\u201d<\/p>\n Itwas reported that Trump had said ‘Crimea will stay with Russia’<\/p>\n Getty<\/p>\n Klitschko, who is a political opponent of Zelensky, said that the Ukrainian President hadn\u2019t discussed any settlement with him: \u201cPresident Zelensky does [it] himself. It\u2019s not my function.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier today, it was reported that Trump had said \u201cCrimea will stay with Russia\u201d and said that Zelensky understands that\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody understands that it\u2019s been with them for a long time. It\u2019s been with them long before Trump came along,\u201d the US President said.<\/p>\n Points one and two of the plan are understood to be focusing on an immediate ceasefire with direct talks between Russia and Ukraine, whilst point three bans Ukraine from joining Nato.<\/p>\n Territory is the focus of point four, with America giving Putin control of Crimea.
