But with so many varied claims and stories from both influencers and doctors, it\u2019s difficult to sort fact from myth. Could someone really be healthy consuming only steak, eggs, butter, and no veggies? Why does the diet seemingly &#8220;work&#8221; for some and not others? We went to the experts to get some answers.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-node-id=\"5.0\">What Is The Carnivore Diet?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"6\" class=\"css-auya5i emevuu60\">The carnivore diet allows only  meat, fish, seafood, eggs, and some dairy. It might be one of the few, or only, well-known diets that excludes produce. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"7\" class=\"css-auya5i emevuu60\">&#8220;The carnivore diet is pretty extreme\u2014it\u2019s all animal products, no plants at all,&#8221; says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.garagegymreviews.com\/author\/drraj\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.garagegymreviews.com\/author\/drraj\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Dr. Raj Dasgupta\" data-node-id=\"7.1\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Raj Dasgupta<\/a>, Chief Medical Advisor for Garage Gym Reviews. <\/p>\n<p>Related Story<strong data-node-id=\"9.0\">Is The Carnivore Diet Healthy?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"10\" class=\"css-auya5i emevuu60\">Whether or not the carnivore diet is healthy varies depending on who you ask. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"11\" class=\"css-auya5i emevuu60\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nutritionnowcounseling.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.nutritionnowcounseling.com\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Lauren Manaker\" data-node-id=\"11.0\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\" rel=\"noopener\">Lauren Manaker<\/a>, R.D.N., says it&#8217;s rare that she gives a dietary pattern a &#8220;hard no,&#8221; but when it comes to the carnivore diet, she doesn\u2019t consider it healthy, nor does she recommend trying it. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"12\" class=\"css-auya5i emevuu60\">In addition to the lack of vitamins and health benefits from fruits and vegetables, her main concern is the absence of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delish.com\/just-for-fun\/high-protein-high-fiber-foods\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.delish.com\/just-for-fun\/high-protein-high-fiber-foods\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"fiber\" data-node-id=\"12.1\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\" rel=\"noopener\">fiber<\/a>, which is important for digestive health and a healthy gut. She\u2019s been on the carnivore diet for six years and is often seen on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/steakandbuttergal\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/steakandbuttergal\/?hl=en\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Instagram\" data-node-id=\"16.1\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\" rel=\"noopener\">Instagram<\/a> biting into a stick of butter or steak. &#8220;I have lost 25 pounds of unhealthy weight, regained my period, overcame my depression, and healed my acne, eczema, and psoriasis,&#8221; she wrote on her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patreon.com\/steakandbuttergal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.patreon.com\/steakandbuttergal\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Patreon\" data-node-id=\"16.3\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\">Patreon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"17\" class=\"css-auya5i emevuu60\">Others didn\u2019t have the same experience. She was on the diet for eight weeks and said she lost fat, but also developed Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, lost her period, and developed acne.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"18\" class=\"css-auya5i emevuu60\">&#8220;It depends a lot on the person,&#8221; Dr. Dasgupta says, who echoes Manaker, saying that those with autoimmune issues or food sensitivities might seem to feel better simply because they\u2019re removing irritants. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"19\" class=\"css-auya5i emevuu60\">&#8220;Others don\u2019t do well on it\u2014they might feel sluggish, constipated, or just miss variety in their diet,&#8221; he adds. &#8220;Our bodies, genetics, and gut health all respond differently to big changes like this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong data-node-id=\"20.0\">What\u2019s The Difference Between The Carnivore Diet &amp; The Paleo Diet?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"21\" class=\"css-auya5i emevuu60\">There are a lot of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delish.com\/cooking\/recipe-ideas\/low-carb-recipes\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.delish.com\/cooking\/recipe-ideas\/low-carb-recipes\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"low-carb\" data-node-id=\"21.1\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\" rel=\"noopener\">low-carb<\/a> or grain-free diets out there. And with the Paleo diet\u2019s similar emphasis on meat, it can get a bit confusing.
