LOS ANGELES, April 26 \u2013 Bain, a member of South Korean boy band Just B, came out as part of the queer community during the group\u2019s \u201cJust Odd\u201d world tour stop in Los Angeles earlier this week.<\/p>\n
The group\u2019s main vocalist made the announcement during Tuesday\u2019s performance, becoming the first K-pop boy band member to come out publicly.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m f\u2014ing proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community … Shout out to my queen Lady Gaga, because she showed that being different is beautiful!\u201d he said, as cited by Seoul-based Korea Herald.<\/p>\n
The 23-year-old then waved a rainbow flag while performing Lady Gaga\u2019s anthem \u201cBorn This Way,\u201d as fans cheered and his fellow members embraced him on stage in a show of support.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cTo many of you out there, who are part of LGBTQ+, or still figuring out, this is for you guys,\u201d Bain said in a message directed at fans.<\/p>\n
Although Just B\u2019s agency has yet to release an official statement, fellow member Siwoo expressed his support for Bain through a message posted on the fan communication platform Fromm.<\/p>\n
\u201cByunghee was amazing. Applause for his courage,\u201d he reportedly wrote, using Bain\u2019s real name.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was watching backstage, and I teared up. Knowing how hard and painful this must\u2019ve been, it hit me even harder. I already gave him a big hug \u2014 it\u2019s been such a happy tour.\u201d<\/p>\n
Just B, a six-member group that debuted in 2021, released their latest EP \u201cJust Odd\u201d in March before embarking on their ongoing world tour.<\/p>\n
