Prince Andrew <\/a>hasn\u2019t paid rent for his Grade II listed, 30-room Windsor <\/a>home in 22 years, a report revealed. <\/p>\n A copy of the disgraced royal\u2019s <\/a>lease shows that he paid \u2018one peppercorn (if demanded)\u2019 of rent per year since 2003. <\/p>\n The rent for the Royal Lodge is about \u00a3260,000 a year<\/a>, but Andrew is considered to have paid it up front for funding renovation work.<\/p>\n The lease, obtained by The Times<\/a>, also shows that the prince paid \u00a31 million for the lease plus at least \u00a37.5 million for refurbishments in 2005.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t\t\tSign up for all of the latest stories\t\t\t<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a><\/strong> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> <\/strong>alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n He and his family are set to live in the mansion until 2078.<\/p>\n Under the agreement, the Crown Estate would have to pay around half a million pounds if he were to leave the mansion before this. <\/p>\n The estate, which\u00a0oversees the royal family\u2019s massive land and property holdings, cannot sell the lavish home either.<\/p>\n An National Audit Office report dated 2005 said that the estate would have paid for the Royal Lodge\u2019s refurbishment had the prince not intervened. <\/p>\n The Royal Lodge is now held on a peppercorn rent \u2013 a symbolic or very small rent payment \u2013 and a value \u2018nil\u2019 was recorded in the NAO report.<\/p>\n Yet how Andrew affords to live in the home has been questioned by campaigners after King Charles<\/a> cut off financial support for him last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tA look at Royal Lodge in Windsor\t\t\t<\/p>\n Royal Lodge is a Grade II listed building in Windsor that houses 30 rooms, including seven bedrooms.<\/p>\n The lavish mansion is made up of a central section standing at three storeys tall, with two-storey wings.<\/p>\n The current building structure dates back to the 19th century and was later expanded in the 1930s by the then Duke of York, also the future King George VI.<\/p>\n \t\t The residence was previously occupied by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother from 1952 until she died in 2002, aged 101.<\/p>\n Royal Lodge then became home to Prince Andrew and his family in 2004.<\/p>\n Charles removed Andrew\u2019s \u00a31million annual allowance, leaving his only declared income as a \u00a320,000 naval pension<\/a> \u2013 not nearly enough to pay for his estimated \u00a33million security bill. <\/p>\n Andrew, who last week surrendered the use of his title, the Duke of York<\/a>,\u00a0amid scrutiny for his ties with Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>, is understood to have received no inheritance from the late Queen Elizabeth<\/a>. <\/p>\n His net worth is an estimated $5,000,000 \u2013 or just under \u00a33,800,000 \u2013 made from investments with China<\/a>, according to monitoring websites. <\/p>\n Andrew giving up his title capped off six years of controversy for the prince following his calamitous BBC Newsnight interview about Epstein<\/a>.<\/p>\n In a statement on Friday, Andrew said that following a \u2018discussion\u2019 with his elder brother, Charles, he would \u2018no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.
