Newcastle United are making a move to secure their star players\u2019 long-term futures following the situation surrounding Alexander Isak\u2019s switch to Liverpool.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Isak joined Liverpool in a \u00a3125million deal<\/a> on 1 September from Newcastle<\/a> following weeks of intense speculation surrounding his future. <\/p>\n

Isak forced through a move to Anfield<\/a> after refusing to play for Eddie Howe<\/a>\u2019s side in the opening weeks of the campaign. <\/p>\n

The i Paper<\/a>\u00a0reported on 14 October\u00a0Newcastle<\/a>\u2019s sporting director\u00a0Ross Wilson<\/a>\u00a0will lead an audit of the club\u2019s star players\u2019 contract situations to avoid a repeat of the Isak<\/a> situation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is understood the contract offers to\u00a0Tino Livramento<\/a>,\u00a0Sandro Tonali<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Sven Botman<\/a>\u00a0could include release clauses.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Former\u00a0Man City<\/a>\u00a0financial adviser\u00a0Stefan Borson<\/a>\u00a0exclusively told\u00a0Football Insider<\/strong>\u00a0Wilson will have ideas on new policies he wants to implement after making the move to St James\u2019 Park.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wilson started work at Newcastle last week<\/a> after a deal was agreed with Nottingham Forest. <\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to\u00a0Football Insider<\/strong>\u00a0about Newcastle\u2019s release clauses plan,\u00a0Borson\u00a0said:\u00a0\u201cIt can make sense and it cannot make sense. You can end up with a release clause is only interesting if it happens to be either attractive to the buying club or generally in the zone of what\u2019s fair market value.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, there are lots of players in Spain that have release clauses because they have to have release clauses. But they have release clauses that are never going to be exercised. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt can make it easier. You can avoid some of these situations. You can point to it with a buying club and say, \u2018If you want this guy, that\u2019s what it\u2019s going to cost\u2019.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Newcastle previously inserted a \u00a3100m release clause in\u00a0Bruno Guimaraes<\/a>\u2019s deal, but it expired in the summer of 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Newcastle plan wouldn\u2019t have prevented Alexander Isak issue<\/p>\n

Isak\u2019s transfer was worth around \u00a3130m to Newcastle<\/a> due to the money saved on solidarity payments. <\/p>\n

However, Borson doesn\u2019t believe Howe\u2019s side could have received more for the Sweden international if he had a \u00a3150m release clause. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe reality is, even if Isak would have had a \u00a3150m release clause, if Liverpool in that scenario said, \u2018We\u2019re not paying the release clause\u2019, you\u2019re still in the same situation you were always in with the player,\u201d said Borson. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe player just says, \u2018Well, I still want to go. Liverpool are not paying the \u00a3150m, but you need to sell me for \u00a3125-130m because I want to go to Liverpool. We\u2019ve had this discussion, I want out\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I don\u2019t think it fixes the problem particularly. But the new sporting director will have new ideas as to how he wants to implement new policies.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Isak\u00a0has scored just one goal in his opening seven games for\u00a0Liverpool<\/a>\u00a0following a difficult start at Anfield.\u00a0<\/p>\n
