A visitor to the Temple Bar in Dublin has shared his shock after his receipt showed a round of a beer, a Coke, two rums and six Baby Guinness shots cost him more than 100 euros<\/p>\n

A tourist visiting one of Dublin’s most famous pubs<\/a> has shared his receipt after getting an eye watering bill for a single round of drinks.<\/p>\n

Customer Ryan was visiting Ireland for a break when he and his mates stopped off at the Temple Bar<\/a>, which is well-known for its lively atmosphere, traditional music sessions and steady stream of visitors. He ordered a round of a beer, a Coke, two rums and six Baby Guinness shots – Kahlua and Baileys Irish cream. However he could not believe his eyes when the tab for the collection of drinks came to \u20ac107.20 – around \u00a390.<\/p>\n

He shared his receipt on social media, adding he could not believe how quickly the tab climbed for what seemed like a fairly modest order, the Irish Mirror reported<\/a>. He wrote: “Knew it would be expensive but f*** me.”<\/p>\n

The breakdown of the visit was a pint of Heineken at \u20ac11.45 (\u00a39.75), a Coke that cost \u20ac4.95 (\u00a34.20), six Baby Guinness shots priced at \u20ac11.35 (\u00a39.70) each (totalling \u20ac68.10 (\u00a358) for that portion alone), and two Malibu shots, also \u20ac11.35 each (\u00a39.70), coming to \u20ac22.70 (\u00a319). The receipt, dated Friday, April 4 at 2.52pm, quickly went viral after being shared online by shocked Ryan on his X account.<\/p>\n

The bottom of the receipt explains all prices includes a 23% VAT tax, as well as \u201clive music and cover charge\u201d.<\/p>\n

The bill sparked debate about the high cost of socialising in one of Dublin’s busiest areas . Many social media users were quick to slam the prices, calling the bill “a rip-off”, “daylight robbery” and “unbelievable”.<\/p>\n

One person replied: “Nearly \u00a370 for 6 Baby Guinness , I’d never check my bank app again!\u201d Another echoed this, saying: “WTF!!?!!? Where is that? 70 quid for 6 Guinness? Hope they sprinkled some gold on top.”<\/p>\n

Others took issue with the price of the Heineken, with one person writing: “Pint of beer for over \u00a311? Absolute joke.” Another said: “Omg I would have walked out.” Someone else shared their own horror story: “Dublin is brutal. Did 82 euros on 4 gin and tonics last year. Left my glass for 1 minute it was swept up by glass collector half full.”<\/p>\n

One person even claimed: “More than my food shopping bill for week.”<\/p>\n

However, some others defended the pub , pointing to its location, entertainment and tourist demand. One person said: “To be fair, as stated at the bottom of the receipt, prices include live music.”<\/p>\n

Another argued: “You go to one of the most popular tourist bars in the world<\/a>, then act shocked when it’s expensive lmao.”<\/p>\n
