Sheffield Wednesday are facing the threat of administration following the latest development in their financial crisis.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Sheffield Wednesday\u2019s players weren\u2019t paid in September<\/a>, making it five of the past seven months where they have not received their wages on time. <\/p>\n During this period, Sheffield Wednesday have also been hit with six embargos<\/a>, the most recent coming after they were found to have breached the EFL\u2019s profit and sustainability rules. <\/p>\n As a result of their disastrous circumstances, there has been talk of the independent regulator taking control of Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> and removing Dejphon Chansiri<\/a> from the club\u2019s ownership. <\/p>\n BBC Sport<\/a>\u00a0reported on 16 October the Owls\u00a0will be hit with a winding-up petition imminently after failing to settle a \u00a31million debt owed to HMRC.\u00a0<\/p>\n Former Man City<\/a> financial adviser Stefan Borson<\/a> exclusively told Football Insider<\/strong> Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> will land a points deduction if they go into administration. <\/p>\n Derby County<\/a>, who were the last EFL club to enter administration, were deducted 12 points in September 2021. <\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to Football Insider<\/strong>, Borson said: \u201cThere are so many parties that are sniffing around and making it even more complicated than it is, from fan groups, to the EFL, to the local politicians getting involved, to the IFR, which is about to kick off the independent football regulator. <\/p>\n \u201cThere are so many people who are interested in the outcome and lobbying for a certain outcome. Then of course, you\u2019ve got the owner, who I suspect knows that he needs a solution. It\u2019s not that difficult to see that there needs to be a solution here. <\/p>\n \u201cThen it\u2019s a question of either he has the access to the funds to settle some of these issues, or he doesn\u2019t. If he doesn\u2019t, then of course there\u2019s going to be a crunch point that could end up with the appointment of an administrator. I mean, that\u2019s just a statement of the obvious.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Sheffield Wednesday are estimated to be worth around \u00a370m<\/a>\u00a0despite Chansiri insisting he wants closer to \u00a3100m.\u00a0<\/p>\n Dejphon Chansiri told to find Sheffield Wednesday buyer soon<\/p>\n Former Crystal Palace<\/a> co-owner\u00a0John Textor has been linked with a Sheffield Wednesday takeover<\/a>, but it\u2019s currently unclear whether he\u2019s in a position to agree a deal.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIf there is no money in the club and they have no access to money from either the owner or selling assets, then of course that\u2019s how you run out of cash and that\u2019s how you end up in administration,\u201d said Borson. <\/p>\n \u201cBut it\u2019s not going to solve the issue anyway. You have still got to find a buyer. It\u2019s got to find somebody that\u2019s going to fund the situation. If it does go into administration, you\u2019ve got the points deduction.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019ve got issues with further points deductions if you can\u2019t settle the creditors in a satisfactory way.
