Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> owner Dejphon Chansiri is trying to agree a payment plan with HMRC to delay a winding-up order and avoid administration, according to Alan Nixon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ongoing Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> crisis has been one of the EFL\u2019s biggest stories of 2025.<\/p>\n

Troubles have never been far away under Dejphon Chansiri\u2019s lead, but SWFC\u2019s situation has worsened and worsened with every passing month this year. Players and staff have seen payment issues in five of the last seven months, and a huge unpaid tax bill looms over the club<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The unpaid tax bill brings threat of a winding-up order and potential administration. Despite the peril that brings, it would make a long-awaited escape from Chansiri\u2019s control more feasible.<\/p>\n

However, reporter Alan Nixon has now detailed the Thai businessman\u2019s continued efforts to retain control despite the Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> crisis.<\/p>\n

Writing on his Patreon<\/a>, Nixon says Chansiri is hoping to agree a payment plan with HMRC to delay a winding-up order being issued. This could help him avoid seeing SWFC plunged into administration, increasing his chances of retaining club ownership.<\/p>\n

Efforts to find investment continue to fail, and Chansiri has been advised to make the move into administration. Figures described as \u2018close aides\u2019 have contacted a leading company who could facilitate it.<\/p>\n

But, despite this, Chansiri is fighting to keep SWFC in his own hands. <\/p>\n

Of course, administration is an outcome Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> would have avoided in another world. However, with the hand they\u2019ve been dealt, it might be the clearest path to being rid of Chansiri\u2019s ownership.<\/p>\n

Despite this, the Thai businessman is still trying to find ways to avoid losing control of SWFC at all costs.<\/p>\n

HMRC are unlikely to be forgiving or accommodating of Chansiri\u2019s interests given the huge tax bill that remains unpaid. They will listen to proposals of how the tax bill will be repaid as quickly as possible, but given the relentless cash flow issues, they might not be the easiest to convince.<\/p>\n

It appears this move would be to try and delay the issuing of a winding-up order to give the owner more time to try and source investment. However, with efforts to date bearing no fruit, time could finally be running out for Chansiri.<\/p>\n

As chaos continues off the pitch, Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> boss Henrik Pedersen is doing all he can to keep his players and colleagues focused on matters on it.<\/p>\n

The Danish head coach is one of many making sacrifices to try and aid staff members in this crisis. All the while, he is fighting to give supporters something to celebrate.<\/p>\n
