Sure, it might feel like Ozempic has only just became a big topic of discussion, but the reality is that A-listers in America have been using it for weight loss for years.<\/p>\n

Originally designed for treating type 2 diabetes, the medicine is often used to help people drop the pounds with many celebrities<\/a> opening up about their experiences with using it.<\/a><\/p>\n

And one of those is British actor and comedian, Stephen Fry<\/a> who had \u2018astonishing results\u2019. While Ozempic is not available in the UK<\/a> for weight loss treatment, the 67-year-old said he got it from his doctor over in the US<\/a> \u2018years ago\u2019.<\/p>\n

However, just like other medicines, the injectable comes with its side effects<\/a> and for Fry that included making \u2018him vomit five times a day\u2019.<\/p>\n

Previously speaking on the River Caf\u00e9 Table 4 podcast, the Blackadder star said he \u2018happened to be in America\u2019 and had \u2018read about\u2019 Ozempic \u2018years ago\u2019.<\/p>\n

“I asked my doctor in America, my physician, as they like to call them, and he said, ‘I think I can get you some’,\u201d Fry explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe tried me on it and [for] the first week or so I was thinking, ‘this is astonishing. Not only do I not want to eat, I don’t want any alcohol of any kind. This is going to be brilliant’.\u201d<\/p>\n

Back in August 2019, he told BBC Breakfast that he\u2019d managed to lose five-and-a-half stone within four months simply by eating sensibly and walking a lot. It\u2019s not clear if that weight loss ran alongside the same time period when the actor was taking Ozempic.<\/p>\n

However, soon after Fry started using the medicine, he \u2018started feeling sick\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I started feeling sicker and sicker and sicker,\u201d the former QI host explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was literally throwing up four, five times a day and I thought, ‘I can’t do this’. So that’s it.”<\/p>\n

While appearing on BBC Breakfast, Fry said he had peaked at nearly 21 stone that year and felt \u2018relieved\u2019 following his weight loss.<\/p>\n

As well as the nausea and vomiting he suffered, other common side effects of Ozempic include diarrhoea, stomach pain and constipation.<\/p>\n

The same feeling of sickness is something Amy Schumer also experienced as a result of the medicine as she said it left her \u2018bedridden\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, vomiting \u2014 and then you have no energy. But other people take it and they\u2019re all good,\u201d she previously explained.<\/p>\n
