A third area partnership, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/glasgow-southside\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Southside<\/a> Central, is to allocate about \u00a373,000 according to council minutes. It is hoped the contributions will be match funded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/glasgow-city-council\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow City Council<\/a> and could reopen next autumn.\u00a0 It is understood the property could be run by a community organisation.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Councillors Zen Ghani, Soryia Siddique and Holly Bruce have welcomed the move.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ MORE:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25561029.racism-row-hes-boss-branded-french-cheese-eating-surrender-monkeys\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Racism row HES boss branded French &#8216;cheese-eating surrender monkeys&#8217;<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Councillor Siddique, Labour, who has been calling for the restoration said: \u201cI am pleased that Southside Central Area Partnership has approved funding for Langside Halls.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI look forward to seeing work starting to bring this stunning heritage building into use. Bringing Langside Halls back into use is important because it restores a much-loved local landmark to the heart of the community.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cFor too long, this historic building sat underused and subjected to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/vandalism\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vandalism<\/a>. I look forward to it serving as a place where people come together.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Councillor Ghani, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25059069.news-interviews-updates-snp\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SNP<\/a>, said: \u201cIt is a heritage building with a huge amount of potential. It is about getting the money and investment to bring it back to where it was so people can use it.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/glasgow-city-council\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow City Council<\/a> meeting heard there had been an expression of interest in the hall via the People Make Glasgow programme \u2013 which enables communities to run venues.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It is understood <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/topics\/glasgow-life?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow Life<\/a> has been working with Langside Halls Trust and the local authority to bring the Shawlands building back into use.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It has been shut since 2017 for repairs.
