The woman who fooled her loved ones into believing she had given birth to a baby girl has spoken out.<\/p>\n
Kira Cousins, 22, from Airdrie in Scotland, released a statement after it was revealed that her newborn daughter was actually a Reborn baby doll. She had claimed earlier this month to have given birth to a little girl weighing 5lbs and 4oz.<\/p>\n
Images of baby scans and even a gender reveal party were posted on social media. Friends and family members were so convinced they bought her expensive gifts, including a \u00a31,000 pram, reports the Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n After doubts were raised about the supposed baby, and Kira’s reluctance to let her family see her, she released a statement on social media, reports Manchester Evening News<\/a>.<\/p>\n In a post shared on TikTok, she said: “In my own words let’s set this straight.<\/p>\n “I was in bed when my mother came into my room and found it to be a doll. Prior to this, I had been keeping myself away from literally everyone.<\/p>\n “The next thing I know, I was confronted by all the family. Don’t for one minute think they let me away with this, they haven’t. And none of them knew. Neither did the dad and his family.”<\/p>\n Kira’s friend Neave McRobert disclosed how she unravelled the strange case. In a video statement shared on October 16, she said: “I noticed Kira had deleted every picture and video of Bonnie-Leigh from our chats.<\/p>\n “I asked her why and she ignored me. I then asked the baby’s dad ‘Is this a doll?’, and he said, ‘Yes, it’s a doll’. She even went to the extreme of texting him saying, ‘Bonnie-Leigh died’.<\/p>\n “I can’t imagine how he must feel right now and everyone else who has been lied to for months and months. Everybody believed her. She had a gender reveal, she posted scan photos and even said the baby had a hole in its heart.<\/p>\n “Then she texted me saying the baby was born. We were all so happy.”<\/p>\n A friend of Kira’s family, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed her shock at the news to the Daily Record, but admitted she had suspected the pregnancy was a hoax from the start. Describing Kira as a “serial liar”, she revealed: “I have known her for 10 years and she has lied about all sorts.<\/p>\n “She came into my house twice before this doll appeared and me and daughter noticed straight away that her bump wasn’t real. It was all lumpy.
