Gale-force winds reaching 160 kilometres per hour (km\/h) are expected to arrive in Germany<\/a> on Thursday, October 23. Once the storm has passed, colder weather<\/a> will be here to stay.<\/p>\n

Gale-force winds coming to Germany<\/p>\n

After a dry, sunny and mild start to the week, gale-force winds and stormy weather are set to hit Germany from Thursday. With the storm having crossed the United Kingdom and the Netherlands<\/a>, residents in western federal states<\/a> will be the first to feel the stormy gusts.<\/p>\n

The wind will pick up in Saarbr\u00fccken and Kahler Asten on Thursday morning, and in Frankfurt<\/a>, Stuttgart<\/a>, Nuremberg and Konstanz by Thursday evening. A red wind warning has been issued for the Brocken mountain region<\/a> on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

By Friday morning, gale-force winds will have pushed further east, reaching Hanover, Hamburg<\/a>, Leipzig, Dresden and Berlin<\/a>. Forecasters predict gale-force winds up to 160 km\/h along the North Sea coastline<\/a>. Heavy rain will accompany the storm, and both will continue into Friday night.<\/p>\n

Residents should take care when outside, avoiding wooded areas in case of falling trees and securing outdoor furniture, which could be blown away and cause injuries or damage.<\/p>\n

Colder air to arrive in Germany by the weekend<\/p>\n

Temperatures during the storm are expected to reach highs of around 18 and 19 degrees. But the end of the week will be considerably colder than the start. Once the strong winds have mellowed, the temperature will drop.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, residents in Stuttgart can expect highs of 9 degrees, in Munich<\/a>, highs of 10 degrees and in Frankfurt, Cologne<\/a>, Berlin and Hamburg, highs of 11 degrees.\u00a0<\/p>\n
