Police Ombudsman Marie Anderson<\/p>\n

The Police Ombudsman has returned to work.<\/p>\n

Marie Anderson is completing a number of reports before her retirement in December.<\/p>\n

She has been in the \u00a3150,000-a-year job since 2019.<\/p>\n

In June, Ms Anderson announced she was taking “a temporary leave of absence with immediate effect<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n

She delegated authority to her organisation’s chief executive, and said “commentary” was “detracting” from the job.<\/p>\n

Today, her office confirmed Ms Anderson has returned to work.<\/p>\n

Ms Anderson said: \u201cI am grateful to my staff who continued to work diligently in my absence and I am returning to complete work on a number of reports ahead of my retirement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, the Public Prosecution Service said that Ms Anderson would not face charges over allegations<\/a> arising from a reported domestic incident in Co Down.<\/p>\n

In September 2023, police were called to a reported incident at a property linked to Ms Anderson in Holywood, Co Down.<\/p>\n

A man was arrested as part of the inquiry and later released pending a report to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

A file was subsequently sent to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) and a caution issued to the man who had been arrested.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police were then tasked with investigating further aspects of the incident.<\/p>\n

The PPS said Ms Anderson would not face prosecution after being reported for potential offences of perverting the course of justice and misconduct in public office.<\/p>\n
