Djeidi Gassama has paid Danny Rohl <\/a>the ultimate compliment by insisting ‘he is like a father’ to the Rangers star.<\/p>\n

The summer recruit knows the new Light Blues boss better than most having worked under him for 18 months at Sheffield Wednesday as he announced himself and earned his move to Ibrox.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old has told fans exactly what they can expect to see from the Rangers <\/a>team going forward and the demands the 36-year-old will put on his players on a day-to-day basis.<\/p>\n

Gassama<\/a> himself also admitted that the hard work doesn’t stop on the grass, with the boss demanding hard work off it and even in the warm-ups.<\/p>\n

He’s convinced Russell Martin’s successor<\/a> will get the best out of the ‘talented’ group as he gets ready for a whirlwind period beginning with Brann in the Europa League on the road on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the official Rangers website following the German’s arrival, he said of his time developing under the new Gers Head Coach in England:<\/p>\n

“When I was at Sheffield Wednesday, I worked with him for 18 months and he gave me a lot of advice, and especially last season I had a good year because of him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe taught me how to play my position on the pitch. He loves players to fight for the team and there were a lot of other things – even off the park he helped me a lot to settle in.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was good for me. He is a good manager with a lot of good ideas and I think he will help us to win games. It is good for us to have him here.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow was training? It was hard, but that is normal with him. He likes his teams to work hard and you have to do it every day.<\/p>\n

“It isn\u2019t just on the park; he wants you working hard off the park. Even the warm-up was hard.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very excited to work with him again. I think at Rangers we have a lot of talented players and I think the gaffer will help us win games. I think everyone is excited and looking forward to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rohl is putting together his backroom staff together with Sascha Lense and Mathias Kaltenbach checking in.<\/p>\n

The boss also wants a former Rangers player on his team<\/a>, who gets the importance of everything associated with being at the club.<\/p>\n

He said: “For me it’s important, because of the experience I got in the last two years with Chris Powell [at Sheffield Wednesday], to get a former player as an assistant coach with a background from here.<\/p>\n

“It’s very important to understand the league, the fans, all those things, and it could be very helpful.<\/p>\n
