{"id":519737,"date":"2025-10-22T13:45:30","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T13:45:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/519737\/"},"modified":"2025-10-22T13:45:30","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T13:45:30","slug":"human-artificial-intelligence-campus-focused-on-wellbeing-under-construction-in-germany","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/519737\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cHuman\u201d artificial intelligence campus focused on wellbeing under construction in Germany"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img post-id=\"71523\" fifulocal-featured=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"708\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/mv1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71524\"  \/>Images courtesy of MVRDV\/Vivid<\/p>\n<p>\nConstruction has begun on the 30-hectare Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence (IPAI) campus in Heilbronn, southwest Germany.\n<\/p>\n<p>The site will eventually host around 5,000 people working across science, business, and government, with a shared focus on developing \u201cinnovative and responsible\u201d AI.<\/p>\n<p>Designed by Dutch architecture firm MVRDV, the car-free business campus is arranged in a circular layout defined by two off-centre axes.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of construction includes a cylindrical communications centre with a reflective fa\u00e7ade that will house exhibition areas, conference and seminar spaces, and a cream-coloured restaurant building with orange \u201cgrotto fa\u00e7ades\u201d forming terraces.<\/p>\n<p>Later phases will add a mobility hub featuring logistics and infrastructure areas centred around an entrance atrium. A living lab will provide offices and a large laboratory hall, while an office building with a pleated photovoltaic fa\u00e7ade will feature double-height \u201cliving rooms\u201d on each floor.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"707\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/mv2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71525\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Each building has been designed according to its function and developed using MVRDV\u2019s CarbonSpace tool, which monitors carbon use throughout the design and construction process. Lightweight and bio-based structures will be prioritised over carbon-intensive alternatives.<\/p>\n<p>The campus has been designed to meet DGNB sustainability certification standards set by the German Sustainable Building Council.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking in AI is very technical \u2014 people spend a lot of time tied to their screens. We designed the IPAI Campus as a counterweight to this, with a focus on wellbeing,\u201d said Jacob van Rijs, founding partner of MVRDV.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"606\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/mv3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71526\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe conducted wind studies to ensure a pleasant microclimate in the public spaces, allowing people to make use of the sports facilities on-site.
