Chris Martin<\/a> and Gwyneth Paltrow\u2019s daughter has been roasted online following a viral video of her<\/a> singing, with people asking, \u201cIs this a joke?\u201d and \u201cNepotism has killed art.\u201d <\/p>\n

Apple Martin, 21, surprised concertgoers at Nashville\u2019s Cannery Hall, joining the Vanderbilt student duo Jade Street on stage to sing their upcoming song \u201cSatellite,\u201d which she is featured on. <\/p>\n

Although her Coldplay frontman father is one of the most famous and decorated singers in the world, her musical abilities were widely mocked after clips of the performance Friday night appeared on TikTok<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Commenters were quick to criticize<\/a> her vocal chops, sniping, \u201cShe needs to leave the singing to her dad,\u201d \u201cOh the hidden talent needs to stay hidden,\u201d and \u201cNepotism. Yikes. She is not a singer.\u201d <\/p>\n

Others compared her to a drunk karaoke singer, writing, \u201cI sound the same after a few drinks at karaoke,\u201d and \u201cEveryone sounds like this after 3.2 drinks at a Karaoke bar.\u201d <\/p>\n

Many of the critics pointed to her nepotistic connection to the industry, as both of her parents, who \u201cconsciously uncoupled\u201d in 2014<\/a>, are superstars in the arts. <\/p>\n

Her mother, Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow, is also a \u201cnepo baby,\u201d as her parents are director and producer Bruce Paltrow, who died in 2002, and Tony Award-winning actress Blythe Danner. <\/p>\n

However, where Gwyneth Paltrow managed to carve out a career, and subsequent moguldom in the wellness industry, of her own, it appears as if Apple Martin is having a harder time finding her feet\u2014even if her feet are wearing Chanel, as the late Karl Lagerfeld anointed her as a \u201cChanel Girl\u201d at the age of 4, according to People<\/a>. <\/p>\n

She has appeared in a few fashion shoots over the past few months after making waves last November at a Paris debutante ball, where she was accused of being a \u201cmean girl.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not all of the comments she received about her Nashville debut were negative. The 21-year-old posted another video of the performance to her own Instagram account<\/a>, where she received effusive praise, with one person saying she is \u201cblessed with a beautiful voice,\u201d and even one of her mom\u2019s famous friends, workout tycoon Tracy Anderson<\/a>, commenting with angel, music, and star emojis. <\/p>\n

However, the video posted to Instagram appears to be footage from the live show but audio from a recording of the song, as the audio is not the same as the TikTok live footage. <\/p>\n

Apple Martin lives in Nashville, where she is a senior at Vanderbilt University. There, the aspiring model told Interview<\/a> magazine that she is involved in student theater and recently starred in a Love Island parody with the Vanderbilt Original Cast. <\/p>\n

\u201cI just try to do what feels right and block out anything regarding me in the news to the best of my ability,\u201d she told the magazine. \u201cAnd I\u2019m getting a lot better at being like, \u2018F— it.\u2019 I\u2019m not going to be scared. I just want to do what seems fun and figure my life out.\u201d<\/p>\n
