JSK Retail (GLW) Ltd, trading as Khaira\u2019s Premier Stores in Alloa, has been flagged up by the government for underpaying a member of staff by over \u00a34000.<\/p>\n
The business was one of 46 featured on a list of employers in Scotland found to be underpaying staff, which was published as an educational bulletin to increase awareness of National Minimum Wage legislation.<\/p>\n
Around\u00a0700\u00a0workers\u00a0in\u00a0Scotland\u00a0have been\u00a0repaid by\u00a0their\u00a0employers,\u00a0including\u00a0well-known\u00a0high street\u00a0brands, with\u00a0employers\u00a0receiving fines totalling\u00a0over\u00a0\u00a3400,000\u00a0for breaking the rules.<\/p>\n
Scotland Office Minister Kirsty McNeill said:<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery Scottish worker deserves the pay they are entitled to. Our government is delivering real change for working\u00a0people\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0boosting the minimum wage for 200,000 of Scotland\u2019s lowest-paid workers and\u00a0taking action\u00a0against employers who break the rules.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are bringing in the biggest upgrade to\u00a0workers\u00a0rights in a\u00a0generation\u00a0and we will not tolerate employers who short-change their staff.\u201d<\/p>\n
This action comes as the Government introduces the biggest upgrade to workers\u2019 rights and enforcement for\u00a0a\u00a0generation\u00a0through its Plan to Make Work Pay, which is set to directly benefit around 15 million,\u00a0or half of all\u00a0UK,\u00a0workers.<\/p>\n
As well as ensuring\u00a0hard work\u00a0is properly rewarded with fair treatment and decent pay, from April 2026\u00a0the Employment Rights Bill\u00a0will also\u00a0establish\u00a0a new Fair Work Agency\u00a0with\u00a0more powers to tackle employers\u00a0underpaying\u00a0workers\u00a0and\u00a0failing to\u00a0pay\u00a0holiday and sick pay.<\/p>\n
