An American singer has apologised<\/a> to Australian fans after he said they were the \u2018worst people ever\u2019.<\/p>\n Over the past few weeks, Ryan Adams<\/a> had been playing shows Down Under as part of his Heartbreaker \u201925 World Tour.<\/p>\n The 50-year-old <\/a>rose to fame as part of the alternative country band Whiskeytown in the 1990s, eventually going solo and releasing his debut album, Heartbreaker, to critical acclaim.<\/p>\n Throughout his career he\u2019s also worked with Willie Nelson, Fall Out Boy and Norah Jones.<\/p>\n However, a few days ago he lashed out at fans <\/a>after recent shows.<\/p>\n Following performances in Sydney and Melbourne, fans said he\u2019d acted \u2018unprofessional\u2019 and labelled his behaviour \u2018concerning\u2019.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t During one show, he \u2018ranted and rambled\u2019 about his ex-wife, actress Mandy Moore, before walking off stage.<\/p>\n Meanwhile others said concertgoers \u2018yelled\u2019 at him to play after he kept \u2018abandoning\u2019 songs and stopping shows.<\/p>\n After complaints started circulating online, Adams took aim.<\/p>\n \u2018Worst country ever, every time to play, Thank f*** never again. You are the worst people, and you know it and the best you can go is copy Americans and UK culture. Stew in your own juices,\u2019 he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram<\/a> post.<\/p>\n He later went on to share on social media<\/a> that he was \u2018wildly embarrassed and disappointed\u2019 over his on-stage behaviour, which he said was caused by an ocular seizure brought on by camera flashes.<\/p>\n \u2018I love you all and I\u2019m so sorry. You did nothing wrong. It\u2019s normal to take photos and it\u2019s normal to use a flash. I\u2019ve had this my whole life and it\u2019s been a real struggle because I love playing music for you live and I just can\u2019t play with my eyes closed all night,\u2019 he wrote in a post that he later deleted.<\/p>\n Before his show in Wellington, New Zealand, Adams also posted a photo of his setlist and wrote: \u2018I get so much done with the audience takes the no flash\/ health<\/a> hazard phone<\/a> flash thing seriously. Still can\u2019t see out of my left eye. Thanks AUS. See you never\ufeff.\u2019<\/p>\n Going back and forth with himself, he then shared another update, which read: \u2018I regret saying anything after and I regret making it seem like I was addressing an entire country. I wasn\u2019t.\u2019<\/p>\n A few days on, he\u2019s now backtracked and offered a grovelling apology after he was slammed for attacking his fans.<\/p>\n Posting a photo in bed with his eyes closed, the performer began by writing: \u2018An Apology, I overreacted to a troll who repeatedly harassed myself and others in Sydney. It was a beautiful show. It was wrong. I should have just showed the standing ovation.<\/p>\n \u2018We are all so tired, giving the shows all we have, beyond any above. We came here because we love you and want to play 3 hour shows for you.<\/p>\n \u2018I am sick with a bruised sternum and a chest cold. When I cough it feels like I have a chest buster from Alien in me. I don\u2019t want to be one of those people and that\u2019s what happened. I\u2019m too old for that mess now. To tired. Too in love with my life.<\/p>\n \u2018To my agents and management and my crew and my fans I am sorry. I am a bit of a Scorpio<\/a> bas**** once in a moon. With respect and love. DRA.\u2019<\/p>\n He then went on to confirm his tour had been his \u2018very last show overseas\u2019.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018I might not see you again, but I\u2019ll keep making these records and books because I love it \u2026 And I love you,\u2019 he explained.<\/p>\n Earlier this year Adams also stormed off stage while playing a show in Belfast after lambasting fans for using flash.<\/p>\n \u2018Stop f***ing flashing. I warned you. You could kill me. I have epilepsy and Meniere\u2019s disease. F*** you, I\u2019m not coming back until you stop flashing,\u2019 he said before throwing down his microphone and walking off.<\/p>\n He eventually returned to stage and told the audience he\u2019d suffered an \u2018epileptic seizure\u2019 backstage.<\/p>\n Adams recent tour comes a few years after reports emerged in 2019 that seven women, including Phoebe Bridgers and his ex-wife Moore claimed he\u2019d offered to assist them with their music careers, then pursued them romantically.<\/p>\n They also claimed he\u2019d retaliated when they\u2019d rejected his advances by hindering their careers and harassing them in text messages and on social media.<\/p>\n \t\t Although he initially denied the allegations, Adams went on to issue an apology for his \u2018harmful behaviour\u2019 the following year.<\/p>\n He also told Los Angeles<\/a> Magazine that he felt his accusers \u2018were asking me to die\u2019. \u2018So, I\u2019m losing my life\u2019s work, and my dream of who I am, my ability to provide for myself. And I now don\u2019t have the emotional support to help fix this.
