{"id":520765,"date":"2025-10-22T23:23:22","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T23:23:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/520765\/"},"modified":"2025-10-22T23:23:22","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T23:23:22","slug":"egypt-eu-call-for-consolidation-of-gaza-ceasefire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/520765\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt, EU call for consolidation of Gaza ceasefire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>CAIRO \/ ISTANBUL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on Wednesday called for strengthening the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, based on a plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, took effect on Oct. 10.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during a meeting with Kallas in Brussels ahead of the first Egypt-EU summit, Sisi expressed his country\u2019s desire to enhance cooperation with the EU to implement both the ceasefire agreement and Trump\u2019s plan, the presidency said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized \u201cthe importance of underpinning the ceasefire, ensuring the regular entry of humanitarian aid, and starting the reconstruction process of the Gaza Strip.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Israeli media have reported that Israel has conditioned the start of the second phase of the agreement on the return of its remaining captives\u2019 bodies from Gaza.
