\n Hopes to create 15-bed facility in Howard Pearson House\n <\/p>\n

The people behind plans for a new private medical facility on the Island say the intention is to provide Manx residents with greater choice\u00a0and ease pressure on public budgets.<\/p>\n

A change of use application has been submitted to transform a former office site near\u00a0Victoria Road in Douglas into a 15-bed private hospital.<\/p>\n

The application sparked concern amongst some healthcare professionals regarding the impact on the Island’s NHS offering, while Manx Care says it\u00a0welcomes any initiative that enhances choice and availability of private healthcare provision.<\/p>\n

Manx-based Kingsley Land and Property (IOM) Ltd, alongside operator, Alevia Health Group Ltd, say no contractual discussions have taken place with Manx Care.<\/p>\n

The company also operates Kingsley Muti<\/a> Pharmacy in Ballasalla.<\/p>\n

On the Howard Pearson House application, it says the intention is to ‘provide the Manx public with greater choice and flexibility in their healthcare options, as well as access to services and treatments not currently available on-island’ which it says has ‘the potential to reduce reliance on government funding and ease pressure on public budgets’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A statement to Manx Radio adds: “Competition among private providers drives service improvements, which will raise overall Isle of Man healthcare standards.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“This initiative seeks to align with the Manx Government\u2019s health objectives by complementing existing services through responsible private sector participation. It aims to work collaboratively with existing providers, offering\u00a0additional capacity, choice, and innovation to better serve the Manx public.”<\/p>\n
