Manchester United have finally ended Ruben Amorim’s long wait for back-to-back Premier League<\/a> wins.<\/p>\n

The Reds secured an impressive 2-1 win at Anfield on Sunday to back up their victory over Sunderland before the international break and move to within two points of Liverpool<\/a> in the table.<\/p>\n

It was a monkey off Amorim’s back and a welcome fillip for United after a mixed start to the campaign. The challenge now for the Portuguese and his players is to find consistency and turn back-to-back wins into three in a row.<\/p>\n

The clash with Brighton offers a chance to do just that, and provide Amorim with another first.<\/p>\n

United are targeting a top six finish this season after a dismal domestic campaign last term but they won’t be able to challenge for the European places without being able to consistently string wins together.<\/p>\n

So while the win at Liverpool – the first for United in nearly a decade – should be celebrated and enjoyed, it needs to be a springboard, not an outlier.<\/p>\n

“I wouldn’t go as far as to say Man United are back but it’s a huge win for them,\u201d said former United skipper Roy Keane at the weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey’re winning a few matches now, they’ve won at Liverpool so they’ve got to take that belief now into the game next week against Brighton.<\/p>\n

\u201cEnjoy a little bit of success tonight, no doubt the fans will have a few drinks but stay focused and stay in the zone.<\/p>\n

“They’ve now got to build on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brighton have posed United plenty of problems at Old Trafford<\/a> in recent seasons, winning on their last three visits.<\/p>\n

But if United can put an end to that recent record and secure another three points, it will be the first time they have won three Premier League games in a row since February 2024 when Rasmus Hojlund was in goalscoring form, hitting five in a winning run of four games that started with a late victory at Wolves and also saw United beat West Ham at Old Trafford and win away at Aston Villa and Luton Town.<\/p>\n

That win at Kenilworth Road, secured by an early Hojlund brace, came 49 top flight matches ago. It’s time United did it again.<\/p>\n
