Sights? Sights? Not exactly important when I\u2019m concentrating on my legs being on fire.<\/p>\n<p>However, once that debut <strong>marathon<\/strong> is over, you might catch the bug of wanting to run more, and they might even become easier. Once you\u2019ve found your pace, able to look in front of you, or perform the task of looking from side to side, you may enjoy the scenery as you chase the high of a long-distance runner. And of course, some locations will be easier on the eye to run in than others, which could be the difference in pushing your tired muscles towards the finish line.<\/p>\n<p> <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-181544\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/tcs-london-marathonSREZ-3-2-1-666x444.png\" alt=\"runners crossing tower bridge during the london marathon\" width=\"974\" height=\"649\"  \/>Credit: TCS London Marathon <\/p>\n<p>A <strong>study by the folks over at sportsshoes.com<\/strong> <strong>has ranked the most beautiful marathons across the world<\/strong>, with London\u2019s popular variety coming in the top 20. Ranked at 16th place, the <strong>London Marathon<\/strong> scored the same as that of Nice-Cannes in the south of France, and pipped the likes of the <strong>Kilimanjaro Marathon<\/strong> (18th place) to the post.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Taking the top spot, however, was California\u2019s Big Sur International Marathon<\/strong>, and with views of the ocean as well as runs through redwood forests, it\u2019s not hard to see why. The UK had four entrants in the top 25, with the bonnie <strong>Loch Ness Marathon<\/strong> clinching third place, narrowly below the <strong>Great Wall of China Marathon<\/strong> to make up the podium placings. The study used a trusty 300 marathon runners to give each spot an \u2018eye-catching score\u2019 out of 100, as well as working out the average amount of time spent \u2018looking\u2019 in the marathon.<\/p>\n<p> The top 20 most beautiful marathons in the world <\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsshoes.com\/advice\/running-hub\/motivation\/most-beautiful-marathons\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/www.sportsshoes.com\/advice\/running-hub\/motivation\/most-beautiful-marathons\" data-action=\"text_cta_1\" data-category=\"click_non_sales\">study<\/a>, the most beautiful marathons around the world are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>1.
