Police Scotland<\/a> officers are investigating a fire at a former Scots library that went up in flames last night.<\/p>\n The building in question is the former Dalmuir Library in Clydebank on the town’s Lennox Place.<\/p>\n Nobody was injured in the blaze<\/a>, which took hold at around 10pm on Friday, April 25, 2025. The flames were extinguished. by firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.<\/p>\n And Police Scotland is now appealing to the public for information on the blaze<\/a>, posting on the Police Scotland Argyll & West Dunbartonshire Facebook page.<\/p>\n The post<\/a> said: “Officers are appealing for information following a fire at a building on Lennox Place in Clydebank on Friday, 25 April. The fire reported around 10pm and was put out by the Scottish Fire and Ambulance Service. No one was injured.<\/p>\n “It is being treated and wilful and officers<\/a> are keen to trace two men seen at the time. The first man is described as white, aged in his twenties, around 5ft 7ins and of slim build. He was wearing all black clothing and carrying a white carrier bag.<\/p>\n “The second man is described as white, aged in his thirties and of stocky build<\/a>. We are also asking people to check private CCTV<\/a> and anyone driving in the area around the time of the incident”.<\/p>\n Officers believe drivers may “have captured any footage that could assist” the investigation. Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4214 of Friday, April 25, 2025, or call Crimestoppers<\/a> anonymously on 0800 555 111.<\/p>\n Councillor Fiona Hennebry, a Labour representative for the area, also wrote on Facebook<\/a>: “This fire was in the old Dalmuir library, fortunately nobody was hurt.<\/p>\n “I have spoken to the police this morning and also members of the church<\/a> who have taken over the building. The church were due to move into the premises next week and had been working hard to get everything organised.<\/p>\n “Unfortunately that will now be delayed while the damage is assessed and repaired. I urge anyone with information on this matter to contact the police.” West Dunbartonshire Council<\/a> was contacted for comment.<\/p>\n The property listing on the council’s website<\/a> states: “The premises comprise a single storey building within a self-contained site. Per enclosed floor layout plan, internally there is a large open plan space with ancillary areas off.<\/p>\n “The external walls are a mix of render and cladding. Windows are UPVC double glazed. Car Parking is available to both the front and rear of the premises.
