Emmerdale<\/a> has been hit with more complaints after airing another dark storyline, with over 60 people going to broadcast regulator Ofcom to claim that the ITV soap went too far for its timeslot.<\/p>\n

Ofcom released its round-up of complaints for last week<\/a> (Tuesday, 14 October to Monday, 20 October) and Emmerdale received the most, with 62 complaints for the episode that aired on Friday, 17 October.<\/p>\n

April is currently involved in the ongoing County Lines drug dealing<\/a> storyline, with evil Ray Walters and his mum Celia Daniels<\/a> forcing her to work for them.<\/p>\n

In the special standalone episode from last week<\/a>, April was sent to a hotel to sell cocaine to a man named Tim. Once there, it became apparent that he was expecting her to give him more than just drugs.<\/p>\n

After the creepy older man tried to give the 16-year-old a massage, she managed to distract him and make an escape, while he called out that he hadn’t gotten what he had paid for.<\/p>\n

The episode ended with April explaining what happened to Celia, who revealed that not only did she have no sympathy for the teen, but she also expected her to please her future clients.<\/p>\n

Some viewers thought that this was too much for the pre-9pm watershed timeslot, with only an episode of Channel 4’s 999 Undercover: NHS in Crisis – Dispatches coming close in terms of the number of complaints that week, with 57.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that Ofcom only publishes information about episodes that received more than 50 complaints.<\/p>\n

It’s not the only time in recent months that Emmerdale has made Ofcom’s weekly list of most-complained about shows, although the number of complaints about April’s episode is low in comparison.<\/p>\n

An August episode of John Sugden trying to kill Mackenzie Boyd received over 150 complaints<\/a>, while over 300 people lodged complaints<\/a> about the episode where Vinny Dingle was blackmailed and beating up by a man he met online.<\/p>\n

Emmerdale<\/strong> airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on <\/strong>ITVX<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
