Two people have died and five others were taken to hospital following a fire in Glasgow.<\/p>\n
Emergency crews were called to the blaze within a first-floor flat in a four-storey building in Hughenden Lane, Hyndland, at about 10.20pm on Monday.<\/p>\n
Nine fire engines and a height appliance were mobilised, along with five ambulances, a paramedic response unit and two trauma teams.<\/p>\n
Police Scotland<\/a><\/strong> said a man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n The force said their next of kin have been informed.<\/p>\n Five others were taken to hospital for the effects of smoke inhalation.<\/p>\n A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The fire is not believed to be suspicious, and no criminality has been established.”<\/p>\n Read more from Sky News: The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said all properties in the building were evacuated, and firefighters rescued a number of residents.<\/p>\n Fire service area commander Andy Kenna said: “Sadly, two people were found to have passed away at the scene. Our thoughts very much remain with their friends, family, and wider community at this sad time.<\/p>\n “Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and prevent further spread to other properties.”<\/p>\n
