{"id":523237,"date":"2025-10-23T22:36:43","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T22:36:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/523237\/"},"modified":"2025-10-23T22:36:43","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T22:36:43","slug":"meet-the-anonymous-street-artist-helping-londoners-make-light-of-their-complicated-emotions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/523237\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet the anonymous street artist helping Londoners make light of their complicated emotions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>An artist has been spreading positivity across the capital by leaving witty cartoon messages scattered around the streets of London.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The creative who goes by the name <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/beakandsqueak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@beakandsqueak<\/a> on Instagram, and wishes to remain anonymous, started the quirky project six weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>So far, over 300 quotes have been written in chalk on the streets of locations including Chelsea and London Bridge, which have sparked a smile-filled scavenger hunt on Instagram. <\/p>\n<p>The quotes play into the complexity of human emotions by making light of people\u2019s feelings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that I\u2019ve found something with the street art that people can appreciate,\u201d the artist told the Londoners. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"766\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_1618-766x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-159168\" style=\"width:521px;height:auto\"  \/>One of the artist\u2019s messages. Credit: Madigan Gallagher<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just like to poke fun at all the contradictions I can think of: love, politics, emotions, relationships. It can all be contradictory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI like the thought that you can read my stuff and agree or disagree, and someone else can come across it and do the same. And that\u2019s okay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re all contradictory. I think that\u2019s okay. I think it will reduce stress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The messages have struck a chord with many who have seen them, including digital content creator, Sophie Bux, 21<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"766\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_1592-766x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-159171\" style=\"width:515px;height:auto\"  \/>One of the artist\u2019s quotes. I love to accidentally come across inscriptions in which everyone can find meaning for themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elaborating on the inspiration for their work, the artist said:\u00a0\u201cI think too many people are worried about being hypocrites or changing their minds. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re allowed to change our minds, we\u2019re allowed to have opinions on both sides.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we\u2019re more complicated than that. Credit: Madigan Gallagher<\/p>\n<p>The messages have also garnered interest internationally, with the artist spreading messages in Berlin, Madrid and Krakow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to keep travelling and I\u2019m going to keep writing them wherever I go.
