It\u2019s officially time to deck the halls, because the nation\u2019s favourite pop princesses, Girls Aloud<\/strong>, are serving up a dazzling dose of nostalgia (and plenty of glitter) with the long-awaited re-release of their festive mini-album \u201cChristmas \u2019Round At Ours\u201d \u2014 this time as a fully fledged standalone record.<\/p>\n

Originally tucked away as a bonus disc with their 2005 album \u2018Chemistry\u2019, the sparkly holiday collection has become a fan-favourite over the years \u2014 packed with classic covers, cheeky charm, and that unmistakable Xenomania<\/strong> pop magic! <\/p>\n

Now, twenty years later, it\u2019s finally getting the star treatment it deserves, complete with a remaster, a brand-new remix (\u2018Not Tonight Santa \u2013 Christmas Party Mix\u2019), and even a gorgeous red vinyl edition<\/strong> that is almost guaranteed to match your Christmas d\u00e9cor.<\/p>\n

The album\u2019s track-list can only be described as a stocking full of pop treats: \u2018Merry Xmas Everybody\u2019, \u2018I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday\u2019, and the delightfully flirty original \u2018Not Tonight Santa\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

To make things even merrier, the re-issue comes with unseen photos, updated sleeve notes, and that gloriously kitschy 1950s-inspired artwork that made the original such a cult favourite.<\/p>\n

The album\u2019s focus track \u2018Not Tonight Santa\u2019 will be accompanied by an adorable festive video featuring previously unseen footage of all five of the\u00a0girls\u00a0from the\u00a0Girls\u00a0Aloud\u00a0Christmas\u00a0archive.<\/p>\n

Looking back on the origins of the albums conception, each of the girls reflect in their own way saying\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cJust as we\u00a0were\u00a0adding the finishing touches to what would become our \u2018Chemistry\u2019\u00a0album, our producer Brian Higgins<\/strong> had a wildcard last minute idea. As the album had been scheduled for a December release, how about we record some bonus\u00a0Christmas\u00a0tracks? Our record label loved the idea but went one step further and suggested we record a whole\u00a0Christmas\u00a0album which could be packaged with the main album as a strictly limited edition deluxe format.\u201d \u2014 Kimberley<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe decided to record 4 classic\u00a0Christmas\u00a0covers \u2013 and the Xenomania team were going to write 4 brand-new original\u00a0Girls\u00a0Aloud\u00a0Christmas\u00a0songs. There was only one issue \u2013 time. We had one week\u00a0for the remaining new songs to be written and to record everything. Everyone went into festive overdrive. While we were recording the\u00a0Christmas\u00a0covers in the Xenomania studio (we picked \u2018Jingle Bell Rock\u2019\u00a0because it was in the movie Mean\u00a0Girls), Miranda Cooper<\/strong> and Lisa Cowling<\/strong> spent a weekend in Devon writing lyrics to the four brand new\u00a0Christmas\u00a0songs.\u201d \u2014 Nicola<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe new songs were all highly kitsch and sometimes ridiculous. The album was always meant to be called\u00a0\u201cChristmas\u00a0\u2018Round At Ours\u201d\u00a0\u2013 that\u2019s why the\u00a0Christmas\u00a0TV advert was themed \u2018At home with\u00a0Girls\u00a0Aloud\u2019, but it was decided it was too confusing to give it a name of its own, as it would only ever be available as part of the \u2018Chemistry\u2019 album. Until now that is.\u201d \u2014 Cheryl<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe day we photographed the front sleeve was the same day we were photographed for the main \u2018Chemistry\u2019 sleeve. When we walked into the photo studio it was like walking on to a film set \u2013 the kitchen scene you see on the front of the album was a set build and it looked so impressive, like something from a 1950s Hollywood movie. If you\u2019d told us then than many years later the chosen image from the day would be celebrated by the National Portrait Gallery (which it did in\u00a0Christmas\u00a02023) we\u2019d never have believed you!\u201d \u2014 Nadine<\/strong><\/p>\n
