Leeds United boss Daniel Farke will be itching to beat West Ham United on Friday evening in the Premier League after losing to fellow promoted side Burnley last time out \u2013 and he\u2019s called upon one of his stars to be much more clinical if they are to pick up points before he sets an unwanted record.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Leeds<\/a> missed four big chances compared to Burnley\u2019s zero, with the lack of clinical edge meaning a vital 2-0 loss for the Whites in their Premier League<\/a> clash.<\/p>\n

The result now leaves Leeds just three points above the relegation zone in what was undoubtedly a six-pointer in the league.<\/p>\n

And Daniel Farke<\/a> has fired a warning to striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin<\/a>, who is so far again proving to be one of the most wasteful strikers in the division.<\/p>\n

Dominic Calvert-Lewin had four shots against Burnley, with an audacious overhead kick in the first half seeing him blaze over, as well as missing three chances with his head in the second half when he should have troubled Martin Dubravka.<\/p>\n

Brenden Aaronson and Jack Harrison also missed chances in what was without doubt their worst loss of the campaign, and they\u2019ll need to start scoring in other games.<\/p>\n

And Farke has urged his side to kick on against West Ham in what is another huge game down the bottom of the Premier League, with Nuno Espirito Santo\u2019s men massively struggling against Brentford on Monday.<\/p>\n

Daniel Farke told Sky Sports<\/a>: \u201cWe know that we have performed, in many ways, in a really good way.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have picked up points in four games, and even the four games where we didn\u2019t win, perhaps apart from the Arsenal away game, by statistics we were the better side.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had more possession, more shots, more expected goals, more possession and we would have deserved many more. I\u2019m delighted and happy with the performances of my team.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we also know the only statistic that really matters are goals. We have to be a bit more clinical in both boxes. We\u2019ve missed too many chances in an away game [vs Burnley] when you have so many clear-cut chances, you need to score at least two or three goals.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t manage to do this, and for that we also have to be self-critical a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Calvert-Lewin has struggled so far in his Leeds career<\/a>. Endearing himself to the fans with a first goal at Elland Road would go a long way to getting his Leeds career off to a start, after playing poorly last time out at home vs Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dominic Calvert-Lewin left Everton for Leeds in the summer<\/a>, and although he had given the Toffees nine solid years of service, fans couldn\u2019t help but feel that he needed a change of scenery.<\/p>\n

A worrying statistic posted over the summer by WhoScored stated that Calvert-Lewin was the second-most wasteful striker in the Premier League in terms of expected goals in 2023-24.<\/p>\n

He had scored seven for Everton, but was expected to score 13.73 for the club that season, ranking behind only Liverpool\u2019s Darwin Nunez in underperformance. And he went one better to take the crown last season, scoring just three goals but being expected to score 8.67 in terms of chances accumulated.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s not quite there this season, sitting in eighth after scoring one goal from an expected 2.47 chances.<\/p>\n

But one statistic should make Leeds fans worried. Of all the players to have scored at least once in the Premier League this season, Calvert-Lewin is the least prolific, per FBREF<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He boasts the worst goals-to-shots-on-target ratio of any of the 120 players to have netted, scoring just one of his eight attempts on goal.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s evident he isn\u2019t troubling goalkeepers \u2013 having not even had a shot on target versus Burnley \u2013 and that lack of clinical edge could send Leeds down if they aren\u2019t careful.<\/p>\n
