bruising defeat in Bergen made it three Europa League losses on the spin <\/a>and left their qualification hopes hanging by a thread.<\/p>\nRangers were second best all night against the Norwegians, who cruised to a historic victory thanks to goals from Emil Kornvig, Jacob Sorensen and Noah Holm.<\/p>\n
Rohl felt compelled to go to the away fans at the end and admitted afterwards it was a reality check just four days into the job.<\/p>\n
When asked if he expected better from his players, he said: \u201cYeah, of course. I think we should have high standards at Rangers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is very important to understand.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was clear that everything couldn\u2019t be right but we are very disappointed at a 3-0 defeat.<\/p>\n
\u201c(At the end) I first apologised (to the fans) for this defeat and the performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ve travelled a lot for the team and they\u2019re always there.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis club has a lot of passionate fans and they deserve this.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was very important for me to show that I understand them.<\/p>\n
\u201cI said as well to them I\u2019m working very hard to improve this group of players and get results.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a great welcome before the game. Then you hope you can give them straight away the three points and a good feeling.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo this makes me sad that I couldn\u2019t. That was the reason why I walked to them to give them the big respect that they deserve.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is my job. We have to understand our fans are very patient and you cannot expect that they are always happy with us when we have such a performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s why I made the step to be brave and go to them. Hopefully they understand why I did this.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe reaction for me then was good. But we want to show them more and we have to.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, the opponent was better, they deserved the win.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were more aggressive, they won more second balls. I think today I saw a lot about where we are at the moment and what is reality.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t have much time to change something but I want to see a step forward on Sunday (v Kilmarnock) and it means we have to win this game.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rohl confessed that Rangers now have a mountain to climb if they want to qualify from the Europa League group phase.<\/p>\n
He was left to rue poor defending for Brann\u2019s goals, while Rangers were powder puff in attack.<\/p>\n
But he\u2019s adamant there IS quality within the squad and he\u2019s vowed to fix the problems.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cI see a lot of potential and what we have to improve. That\u2019s important to understand.<\/p>\n
\u201cI took this job to develop the players and improve them. We have to do it as individuals but also as a group.<\/p>\n
\u201cI agree the goals tonight were too easy. Mistakes happen but we have to help each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut if we just try to play our own game then it\u2019s hard.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrann don\u2019t have the best individual players but they work hard as a group.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s hard work now (to qualify). But it\u2019s about the turnaround our next game is the most important.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo have a long term view makes no sense. We have a game every three days and that means we have to win.\u201d<\/p>\n
It was the worst possible start to life as Rangers boss but he insists the job ISN\u2019T bigger than he anticipated.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cThere are reasons why we haven\u2019t won in the past and you saw them again today.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy job is to find a solution as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course we hoped for a good start and to win this game but in football sometimes it\u2019s just a wish.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have to work hard and it doesn\u2019t go overnight just when you talk about it.<\/p>\n
