<\/p>\nOscar Piastri says he and McLaren teammate Lando Norris will go into this weekend\u2019s Mexican Grand Prix with a \u201cclean slate\u201d after an internal penalty placed on Norris was removed.<\/p>\n
Norris was penalised by McLaren earlier this month for a collision with Piastri at the Singapore Grand Prix, after which the Australian driver was heard on radio saying, \u201cThat wasn\u2019t very teamlike\u201d, and, \u201cSo are we cool with Lando just barging me out of the way?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Norris later admitted he had been handed \u201crepercussions\u201d until the end of the season. Sky Sports reported that the McLaren penalty was to give Piastri priority in every remaining qualifier.<\/p>\n
But Piastri revealed the sanction against his teammate had been lifted after admitting he was at fault when his car collided with Norris during last Saturday\u2019s US Grand Prix sprint race.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think there is a degree of responsibility from my side in the sprint, and we\u2019re starting this weekend with a clean slate for both of us, so [we\u2019re] just going out and racing and see who can come out on top,\u201d Piastri told Formula 1.com on Friday.<\/p>\n
When asked whether Norris\u2019 penalty had been removed because he had accepted responsibility for the collision, Piastri said \u201cyes, the consequences on Lando\u2019s side have been removed, and yes, ultimately it was that. There were a lot of factors involved, but ultimately that\u2019s what\u2019s been decided.\u201d<\/p>\n

Piastri added that reviewing such incidents was typical.<\/p>\n
