All 27 winners of this year’s Dezeen Awards China<\/a>, along with the projects of the year including a wetland museum<\/a>, cafe set on a cliff<\/a>\u00a0and an installation combining steel containers with inflatables<\/a>, have been revealed at ceremony in Shanghai<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Over 150 shortlisted architects and designers from all over China<\/a>, joined by Dezeen Awards China judges and VIP guests gathered at Kimpton Qiantan Shanghai hotel<\/a> for the ceremony to celebrate this year’s winners.<\/p>\n

Dezeen Awards China, now in its third year, aims to shine a spotlight on the best Chinese architecture, interiors and design, providing international recognition from around the globe.<\/p>\n

Shunde Yunlu Wetland Museum designed by Studio Link-Arc<\/a> won architecture project of the year. It was also the winner of public project of the year (arts, culture and community).<\/p>\n

“Through refined and concise contemporary architectural strategies, the architect reveals the poetry born from the building’s interaction with nature and life,” said judge Peidong Zhu.<\/p>\n

“It not only amplifies the ecological experience of the wetlands but also, in a vivid manner, re-establishes the dialogue between the public and nature and the environment through the architecture itself,” he continued.<\/p>\n

Other architecture winners include a residential beach development in Qinhuangdao<\/a> by Safdie Architects<\/a>, a seaside pavilion<\/a> by GN Architects, and a mixed use project in Shaoxing adapted from a former chip factory<\/a> by Kokaistudios<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Entries were scored by our judges including architects Ziyu Zhuang<\/a>, Robert Greenwood<\/a> and Patrik Schumacher<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yandangshan Scenic Area Cliff Coffee designed by Hangzhou-based Slow Coral was named interior project of the year. It also won bar and cafe interior of the year.<\/p>\n

The cafe connects seamlessly with the natural landscape through simple design techniques, which the studio called “weak design”.<\/p>\n

The wooden platform and glass curtain wall not only allows visitors to receive the best views, but also minimise the interference with the surrounding ecology.<\/p>\n

Other interior winners include a hotel with an unobstructed sea view<\/a> by SZ-Architects, a multifunctional shared learning space<\/a> by Atelier d’More<\/a> and a vibrant space served as retail, bike maintenance space and community centre<\/a> designed by Yatofu Creatives<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Entries were scored by our judges including interior designers Keiji Ashizawa<\/a>, Bin Wu<\/a> and Nan Jiang<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Down in the Clouds, designed by Practice on Earth<\/a> and Increments Studio<\/a>, was named design project of the year. It is also the winner of installation design of the year.<\/p>\n

“Down in the Clouds began with a wealth of imagination, yet remarkably retained its imaginative essence throughout implementation, ultimately achieving a balance between functionality and playfulness,” said judge Min Chen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Other interior winners include an exploratory lighting design project<\/a> by Cynics, a bespoke ceiling installation for Aesop Hainan store<\/a> by Other Matter<\/a> and a regenerated ceramic product<\/a> by YiBrick<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Entries were scored by our judges including curator Aric Chen<\/a>, industrial designer Ross Lovegrove<\/a> and Chen.<\/p>\n

The ceremony ended with the announcement of the four designers of the year awards, including Studio Link-Arc<\/a> for Architect of the Year, Atelier tao+c<\/a> for Interior Designer of the Year, Benwu Studio<\/a> for Designer of the Year and Baicai Design<\/a> for Rising Star of the Year.<\/p>\n

This year’s ceremony incorporated two talks, exploring key issues facing Chinese architecture and design industry.<\/p>\n

Moderated by Dezeen’s co-CEO Benedict Hobson<\/a>, architect Yichen Lu from Studio Link-Arc, Andrea Destefanis from Kokaistudios and interior designer Alex Mok from Linehouse<\/a>, discussed how architects in China are shifting from large-scale new builds toward preservation, adaptation and reuse.<\/p>\n

The other talk, moderated by Dezeen’s China editor Christina Yao<\/a>, invited Alex Chen, global partner of Cheng Chung Design<\/a>, industrial designer Chen, and Hao Chen, co-founder of HCCH<\/a>, to share their thoughts on the future of Chinese design on the global stage.<\/p>\n

Our furniture partner &Tradition<\/a> and Stressless<\/a> presented a Nordic furniture set at the ceremony, including the latest Stressless Reno recliner chair, paired with &Tradition Flowerpot portable lamp and Lato marble side table.<\/p>\n

While our drink partner Dao Brew<\/a> created in collaboration with Dezeen a bespoke beer for all the guests, which incorporated the aroma of tropical fruits, followed by a hint of caramel sweetness. The label of the beer was designed by Zhide Architects.<\/p>\n

Dezeen Awards China 2025 in partnership with Bentley<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dezeen Awards China is the first regional edition of Dezeen Awards which celebrates the best architecture, interiors and design in China.<\/p>\n

Now in its third year, the annual awards programme is in partnership with Bentley as part of a wider collaboration to inspire, support and champion design excellence and showcase innovation that creates a better and more sustainable world.<\/p>\n

This ambition complements Bentley’s architecture and design business initiatives, including the Bentley Home range of furnishings and real estate projects around the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n
