{"id":524317,"date":"2025-10-24T08:55:30","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T08:55:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/524317\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T08:55:30","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T08:55:30","slug":"dezeen-awards-china-2025-winners-revealed-at-party-in-shanghai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/524317\/","title":{"rendered":"Dezeen Awards China 2025 winners revealed at party in Shanghai"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All 27 winners of this year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/awards\/china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dezeen Awards China<\/a>, along with the projects of the year including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2257918\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a wetland museum<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2257928\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cafe set on a cliff<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2258398\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an installation combining steel containers with inflatables<\/a>, have been revealed at ceremony in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/shanghai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shanghai<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Over 150 shortlisted architects and designers from all over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">China<\/a>, joined by Dezeen Awards China judges and VIP guests gathered at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihg.com\/kimptonhotels\/hotels\/us\/en\/shanghai\/shanb\/hoteldetail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kimpton Qiantan Shanghai hotel<\/a> for the ceremony to celebrate this year&#8217;s winners.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2260871 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dac-party-talk2-1704x1278-1-852x639.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1704\" height=\"1278\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Shortlisted architects and guests gathered at the Kimpton Qiantan Hotel in Shanghai.<\/p>\n<p>Dezeen Awards China, now in its third year, aims to shine a spotlight on the best Chinese architecture, interiors and design, providing international recognition from around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>Shunde Yunlu Wetland Museum designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/studio-link-arc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Studio Link-Arc<\/a> won architecture project of the year. It was also the winner of public project of the year (arts, culture and community).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2258875 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dac-architecture-winner-1704x2129-1-852x1065.jpg\" alt=\"dac-architecture-winner\" width=\"1704\" height=\"2129\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Shunde Yunlu Wetland Museum won architecture project of the year. Photo by Tian Fangfang<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Through refined and concise contemporary architectural strategies, the architect reveals the poetry born from the building&#8217;s interaction with nature and life,&#8221; said judge Peidong Zhu.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It not only amplifies the ecological experience of the wetlands but also, in a vivid manner, re-establishes the dialogue between the public and nature and the environment through the architecture itself,&#8221; he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Other architecture winners include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2257915\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a residential beach development in Qinhuangdao<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/safdie-architects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Safdie Architects<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2257920\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a seaside pavilion<\/a> by GN Architects, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2257922\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a mixed use project in Shaoxing adapted from a former chip factory<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kokaistudios.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kokaistudios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Entries were scored by our judges including architects <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/awards\/china\/2025\/judges\/%e5%ba%84%e5%ad%90%e7%8e%89\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ziyu Zhuang<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/awards\/china\/2025\/judges\/robert-greenwood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robert Greenwood<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/awards\/china\/2025\/judges\/patrik-schumacher\/&#039;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Patrik Schumacher<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2245123 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Yandangshan-Scenic-Area-Cliff-Coffee-Slow-Coral-dezeen-awards-china-2025-sq-852x852.jpg\" alt=\"Yandangshan Scenic Area Cliff Coffee by Slow Coral\" width=\"2364\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Yandangshan Scenic Area Cliff Coffee won interior project of the year. Photo by Pan Jie<\/p>\n<p>Yandangshan Scenic Area Cliff Coffee designed by Hangzhou-based Slow Coral was named interior project of the year. It also won bar and cafe interior of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The cafe connects seamlessly with the natural landscape through simple design techniques, which the studio called &#8220;weak design&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The wooden platform and glass curtain wall not only allows visitors to receive the best views, but also minimise the interference with the surrounding ecology.<\/p>\n<p>Other interior winners include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2257932\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a hotel with an unobstructed sea view<\/a> by SZ-Architects, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2257940\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a multifunctional shared learning space<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.d-more.cn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atelier d&#8217;More<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2257941\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a vibrant space served as retail, bike maintenance space and community centre<\/a> designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/yatofu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yatofu Creatives<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Entries were scored by our judges including interior designers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/awards\/china\/2025\/judges\/%e8%8a%a6%e6%b2%a2%e5%95%93%e6%b2%bb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Keiji Ashizawa<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/awards\/china\/2025\/judges\/%e5%90%b4%e6%bb%a8\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bin Wu<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/awards\/china\/2025\/judges\/%e5%a7%9c%e5%8d%97\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nan Jiang<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2229488 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Down-in-the-Clouds-Hero-Image-Installation-Longlist_dezeen_2364_col_0-852x852.jpg\" alt=\"Down in the Clouds by Practice on Earth and Increments Studio\" width=\"2364\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Down in the Clouds won design project of the year. Photo by Practice on Earth\/Increments Studio<\/p>\n<p>Down in the Clouds, designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practiceonearth.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Practice on Earth<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/incrementsstudio.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Increments Studio<\/a>, was named design project of the year. It is also the winner of installation design of the year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Down in the Clouds began with a wealth of imagination, yet remarkably retained its imaginative essence throughout implementation, ultimately achieving a balance between functionality and playfulness,&#8221; said judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/awards\/china\/2025\/judges\/%e9%99%88%e6%97%bb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Min Chen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Other interior winners include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2258399\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an exploratory lighting design project<\/a> by Cynics, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2258400\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a bespoke ceiling installation for Aesop Hainan store<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/other-matter.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Other Matter<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2258401\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a regenerated ceramic product<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/yidesigngroup.com\/product\/yibrick-non-porous\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YiBrick<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Entries were scored by our judges including curator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/awards\/china\/2025\/judges\/aric-chen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aric Chen<\/a>, industrial designer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/awards\/china\/2025\/judges\/ross-lovegrove\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ross Lovegrove<\/a> and Chen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2260876 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dac-party-talk1-1704x1278-new-852x639.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1704\" height=\"1278\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>The first talk is moderated by Dezeen&#8217;s co-CEO Benedict Hobson, Andrea Destefanis from Kokai Studios, interior designer Alex Mok from Linehouse and architect Yichen Lu from Studio Link-Arc.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony ended with the announcement of the four designers of the year awards, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2258402\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Studio Link-Arc<\/a> for Architect of the Year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2258403\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atelier tao+c<\/a> for Interior Designer of the Year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2258404\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Benwu Studio<\/a> for Designer of the Year and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/?p=2258405\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Baicai Design<\/a> for Rising Star of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s ceremony incorporated two talks, exploring key issues facing Chinese architecture and design industry.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2260874 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dac-party-furniture-1704x1278-1-852x639.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1704\" height=\"1278\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Our furniture partner &amp;Tradition and Stressless presented a Nordic furniture set at the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Moderated by Dezeen&#8217;s co-CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/author\/ben-hobson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Benedict Hobson<\/a>, architect Yichen Lu from Studio Link-Arc, Andrea Destefanis from Kokaistudios and interior designer Alex Mok from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/interiors-by-linehouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Linehouse<\/a>, discussed how architects in China are shifting from large-scale new builds toward preservation, adaptation and reuse.<\/p>\n<p>The other talk, moderated by Dezeen&#8217;s China editor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/author\/christina-yao\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christina Yao<\/a>, invited Alex Chen, global partner of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccd.com.hk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cheng Chung Design<\/a>, industrial designer Chen, and Hao Chen, co-founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/hcchstudio.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HCCH<\/a>, to share their thoughts on the future of Chinese design on the global stage.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2260875 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dac-party-beer-1704x1278-1-852x639.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1704\" height=\"1278\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Our drink partner Dao Brew created a bespoke Dezeen beer for all the guests.<\/p>\n<p>Our furniture partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.andtradition.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&amp;Tradition<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stressless.com\/en-hk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stressless<\/a> presented a Nordic furniture set at the ceremony, including the latest Stressless Reno recliner chair, paired with &amp;Tradition Flowerpot portable lamp and Lato marble side table.<\/p>\n<p>While our drink partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/daobrew?igsh=cnprcmFtODBucjNo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dao Brew<\/a> created in collaboration with Dezeen a bespoke beer for all the guests, which incorporated the aroma of tropical fruits, followed by a hint of caramel sweetness.
