{"id":524888,"date":"2025-10-24T14:12:16","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T14:12:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/524888\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T14:12:16","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T14:12:16","slug":"kalvin-phillips-and-adam-forshaw-react-as-leeds-united-academy-graduate-confirms-retirement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/524888\/","title":{"rendered":"Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw react as Leeds United academy graduate confirms retirement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Former Leeds United players Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw are among those who have sent messages of support to Scott Carson after he officially announced his retirement. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Scott Carson began his career with Leeds in the 2003\/04 season, appearing as a late substitute when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/paul-robinson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul Robinson<\/a> was sent off against Middlesbrough in January 2004. <\/p>\n<p>However, Carson caught the eye on his first Leeds start, as he produced an impressive display at Old Trafford as Leeds pulled off a surprise 1-1 draw in their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/premier-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Premier League<\/a> relegation battle. <\/p>\n<p>Carson\u2019s time at Leeds was short-lived, as he was sold in January 2005 as the club adapted to life in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/the-unwanted-20-year-leeds-united-record-that-daniel-farke-faces-against-west-ham\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Championship under Kevin Blackwell<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Now, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/kalvin-phillips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kalvin Phillips<\/a> has led the tribute to the former Leeds academy product, who has called time on a unique career after leaving Manchester City in the summer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2192431731-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Scott Carson warms up ahead of Manchester City FC v West Ham United FC - Premier League\" class=\"wp-image-116459\" \/>Photo by Chris Brunskill\/Fantasista\/Getty ImagesFormer Leeds United players react to Scott Carson\u2019s retirement<\/p>\n<p>Carson announced his retirement with a post on his Instagram page, calling time on a career in which he made a total of 522 career appearances, including four caps for England. <\/p>\n<p>In the caption of his post, Carson stated that it had been an honour to play the game for so long, as he wrote: \u201cAfter an incredible journey between the posts, it\u2019s time to hang up the gloves. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFootball has given me everything \u2014 memories, friendships, and moments I\u2019ll never forget. Thank you to every teammate, coach, fan, and club that\u2019s been part of my ride. It\u2019s been an honour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES<\/p>\n<p>His post was met with a flood of responses from teammates, led by Leeds favourite Phillips, who played alongside Carson at Manchester City. Phillips posted: \u201cLegend Scotty mate, it\u2019s been a pleasure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Phillips\u2019 former Leeds teammate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/adam-forshaw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adam Forshaw<\/a> also sent his congratulations to Carson, writing: \u201cCongrats mate, what a career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This sentiment was also echoed by Man City\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/leeds-united-could-stop-erling-haaland-from-equalling-jamie-vardys-premier-league-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Norwegian goal-machine Erling Haaland<\/a>, who added: \u201cMiss you, pal, all the best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stuart Taylor, another goalkeeper who enjoyed a brief spell at Leeds, also reacted, stating: \u201cCongratulations on a top career mate.
