Leeds United will soon be preparing for their first season back in the Premier League after two seasons in the Championship.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Whites sealed promotion back to the Premier League<\/a> with two games to spare after Sheffield United lost at second-placed Burnley, who also went up.<\/p>\n

However, while Daniel Farke<\/a> has overseen Leeds United\u2019s<\/a> return to the Premier League, speculation about his future has already begun.<\/p>\n

Farke\u2019s record in the Premier League has been questioned, having struggled in two top-flight seasons with Norwich City.<\/p>\n

Now, a report has claimed that Leeds have sounded out a manager who Pep Guardiola<\/a> previously said he\u2019d be \u201clearning a lot\u201d from.<\/p>\n

Leeds United interested in Russell Martin<\/p>\n

The manager in question is Russell Martin<\/a>, who is currently a free agent after parting company with Southampton<\/a> in December.<\/p>\n

Martin has become a genuine candidate for the Leeds job as members of the hierarchy are seriously considering dismissing Farke, according to GiveMeSport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The report claims Leeds have sounded out Martin to see how he feels about returning to the dugout and gain an understanding of his vision for the future.<\/p>\n

As well as Leeds, Southampton are also said to be pondering a potential move for Martin, whose name has come up in internal conversations at St Mary\u2019s Stadium.<\/p>\n

Martin is reportedly open-minded about his next destination, with Leicester City also said to be keen on him if they decide to sack Ruud van Nistelrooy.<\/p>\n

Russell Martin\u2019s management style<\/p>\n

Martin previously outlined his football philosophy in an interview posted by the Southampton website<\/a> not long after they hired him in June 2023.<\/p>\n

They noted how Martin wants his Southampton team to dominate possession in every game, regardless of the opposition.<\/p>\n

His vision was, in his own words: \u201cTo try and be really dominant with the ball, aggressive, play with purpose, play with ball speed, with good rhythm in the team.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Although Martin struggled in the Premier League, he earned plaudits for his style of play, and even Pep Guardiola praised him.<\/p>\n

Speaking after Manchester City\u2019s 1-0 win over Southampton on October, Guardiola said: \u201cWe were not sloppy, we were not flat, but we struggled to regain the ball because they are really good.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a spectator. I prefer the players to get the ball to feet, not the teeth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I see the opponent do the things I like to do with my team and they do it really well, I make a compliment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure I will learn, there were some movements, the reasons why they do things, the movements they make to link to the striker. It\u2019s not easy.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt\u2019s a good game to learn as a manager.
