The family of a boy who died on a railway line in the South West have paid tribute to him.<\/p>\n

Harry Basham’s family have said the 17-year-old was a “brilliant and funny lad” who they will miss and “hold him close in [their] hearts always”.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the scene of an incident on the railway lines near Taunton, Somerset, around 7am this morning (Friday, October 24).<\/p>\n

Despite the best efforts by paramedics, Harry was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

His death is not thought to be suspicious.<\/p>\n

Paying tribute to him, Harry’s family said: \u201cWe are absolutely devastated at the loss of our son, brother, and grandson Harry.<\/p>\n

“He was such a brilliant and funny lad, progressing well into adulthood and so incredibly talented at sports and so much more.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was and forever will be a star to all of us, and we will miss him and hold him close to us in our hearts always.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesperson from British Transport Police said: “The family of Harry Basham, 17, who very sadly died earlier today, are paying tribute to him.<\/p>\n

“Officers were called to the line near Taunton at around 7am today (24 October) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.<\/p>\n

“Paramedics also attended, however despite their best efforts Harry was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Tragic news.
