A 34-year-old man died after taking “fatal levels of paracetamol” to treat toothache. Jack Samson Edwards-Thomas, from Powys, had also been using the opioid painkiller codeine in the days before his death, an inquest at Pontypridd coroner’s court heard.<\/p>\n
Mr Edwards-Thomas, of Llandrindod Wells, was discovered unresponsive on August 29 last year. He had a known history of using “illicit” drugs, said coroner Patricia Morgan, reports Wales Online<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ms Morgan said: “In the days leading up to August 29, Mr Edwards-Thomas suffered with a toothache and had self-administered paracetamol and codeine. On August 29 he became unresponsive. Emergency services attended and Mr Edwards-Thomas was admitted to Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil.<\/p>\n “It was identified that Mr Edwards-Thomas had ingested fatal levels of paracetamol. It became clear over the coming days that he also suffered with hypoxic brain injury [from a lack of oxygen].”<\/p>\n Mr Edwards-Thomas died on September 3 last year at Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.
