Leeds United supporters were left in stunned silence after hearing a brutal West Ham chant that summed up the current catastrophe unfolding in east London.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Given what Leeds fans have been through in the last 20 years they could probably empathise if not quite sympathise as West Ham<\/a> supporters turned their frustration into gallows humour amid another grim chapter in their worst ever start to a top flight season.<\/p>\n

In terms of going through hard times, Leeds United have been there, done it and got the t-shirt in the last couple of decades.<\/p>\n

The Elland Road club even dropped down to the third division at their lowest ebb.<\/p>\n

Leeds fans stunned into silence by West Ham chant<\/p>\n

Now they\u2019re back in the Premier League<\/a> and making a good fist of staying there this time having beaten West Ham 2-1 on Friday night to put a seven-point gap between the sides at the quarter-way stage of the season.<\/p>\n

For West Ham, things go from bad to worse.<\/p>\n

Stuck in the bottom three with one win in 10 games this season, the Hammers are starting to look like relegation certainties never mind candidates.<\/p>\n

The game at Leeds offered West Ham a real opportunity to turn their season around. A win would have closed the gap to one point and breathed new life into the season.<\/p>\n

But this Hammers team simply has nothing about it. Bar Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek, it has no character, passion, pride, grit or any real talent.<\/p>\n

The club\u2019s owners have done such a terrible job they are being hounded out by fans.<\/p>\n

And even the manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who impressed in his first two games, has raised major red flags with inexplicable team selections in defeats to Brentford and Leeds.<\/p>\n

Hammers fans were already fed up and their frustration had turned to apathy.<\/p>\n

But West Ham\u2019s players had better wake up and smell the coffee soon.<\/p>\n

Because that apathy is turning to anger towards every facet of the football club, including \u2013 at long last \u2013 the players.<\/p>\n

For Leeds fans, that is a well-trodden path in their recent history.<\/p>\n

But even Leeds fans were stunned into silence by a West Ham chant that sums up the catastrophe unfolding at the club.<\/p>\n

The Hammers are threatening a Premier League record<\/a> as they hurtle towards relegation.<\/p>\n

As West Ham fell 2-0 behind after just 13 minutes at Elland Road, dark clouds gathered in the away end.<\/p>\n

The mood turned and the usually fiercely loyal away following let their players know exactly what they thought.<\/p>\n

Hammers fans aggressively belted out the chant \u2018We\u2019re f\u2014\u2014 s\u2014\u2018 over and over again to get their message across.<\/p>\n

It was sung with a deep-seated anger that suggests there is a long \u2013 and perhaps no \u2013 way back for these players and this team in their eyes.<\/p>\n

Apathy turns to outright anger at West Ham<\/p>\n

This is the culmination of two years of rapid decline at the club.<\/p>\n

West Ham supporters have seen enough.<\/p>\n

Who can blame them after just 17 wins in 67 Premier League games since January 2024?<\/p>\n

Other chants were sung about sacking the board and the usual terrace ditties.<\/p>\n

But that self-deprecation and gallows humour was chanted with such angry passion, it is clear West Ham supporters, to a man and woman, have reached the very end of their tethers.<\/p>\n
