Her Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, may have failed to impress<\/a>, but it appears this setback has done little to derail the Duchess of Sussex<\/a>\u2019s plans to expand her brand. With her latest venture \u2013 believed to be her own make-up and beauty range \u2013 Meghan is taking inspiration from pop star-turned-fashion and beauty mogul Victoria Beckham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ever since stepping down as a working royal and moving back to the US in 2020, Meghan, 44, has been keen to establish herself in the lifestyle arena<\/a>. \u201cMeghan has always been strategic when it comes to brand building,\u201d PR expert Dermot McNamara tells OK!. \u201cThe US has embraced her as a lifestyle tastemaker and launching a beauty line would be a natural next step. In many ways, she\u2019s channelling the blueprint of women like Victoria Beckham and the Kardashians<\/a>, who\u2019ve turned their personal image into global empires.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last week, rumours began circulating that Meghan is on the cusp of launching what\u2019s been dubbed a \u201cmega-brand\u201d after she was pictured with the business powerhouse<\/a> behind Kim Kardashian<\/a> \u2019s multi-million dollar SKIMS range.<\/p>\n

British-born entrepreneur Emma Grede<\/a>, who has appeared on TV\u2019s Dragons\u2019 Den, shared snaps of the Duchess at a high-profile, all-female dinner summit in Los Angeles, where guests quaffed Meghan\u2019s own As Ever Sauvignon Blanc.<\/p>\n

In recent weeks, Meghan has been dropping hints that she\u2019s preparing to dip her toe into the world<\/a> of beauty, posting clips of herself applying lipstick \u2013 but with the brand name concealed. Dermot says it\u2019s a savvy move to drip-feed beauty content to the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy doing her own make-up and showing it online, she\u2019s repositioning herself as relatable, hands-on and creative, all traits that resonate with beauty audiences in 2025,\u201d he explains. \u201cFans buy into personality as much as product and Meghan is taking ownership of both.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the blurred product shots in her reels to references to her \u2018signature glow\u2019, she\u2019s clearly positioning herself as a self-made entrepreneur rather than a royal adjunct. It\u2019s smart, modern and completely in tune with the American consumer.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the Duchess\u2019s TV ventures have tapped heavily into her royal connections \u2013 notably husband Harry, 41 \u2013 sources say the mum of-two is eager to go solo with her business projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019d love for Harry to be involved in whatever she\u2019s doing, but that\u2019s not how it\u2019s played out, so this is something she\u2019ll have to do by herself,\u201d a source tells OK!. \u201cShe\u2019s prepared to go it alone and will stop at nothing to make a success of As Ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meghan set the wheels in motion for her latest business idea more than a year ago, when As Ever registered a trademark application<\/a> with a view to marketing \u201cskincare, cosmetics and fragrances\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to our source, Meghan \u2013 whose other role model is actress-turned-lifestyle guru Gwyneth Paltrow<\/a> \u2013 has taken note of former Spice Girl Victoria\u2019s success and now wants a slice of the beauty pie for herself.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s witnessed what Victoria has done, how she\u2019s built her brand and how it\u2019s been a huge success for her,\u201d says PR guru Lynn Carratt. \u201cMeghan is a fan of Victoria and has worn her clothes before, so I think she\u2019s keen to see if there is a public appetite for a make-up line. She has a large following in the USA, so whether you love her or loathe her, people will buy her beauty products.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meghan wants to be taken more seriously in her own right and she\u2019s been busy. Earlier this month she made her Paris Fashion Week debut, alongside Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, before heading to the Project Healthy Minds gala in New York, where she and Harry collected the Humanitarian of the Year Award.<\/p>\n

Two weeks ago she was in Washington DC for the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit<\/a>, speaking about the importance of \u201cfinancial independence\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s mixing in fashion and beauty circles and building contacts in the industry,\u201d says Lynn. \u201cI think we\u2019ll see her more and more at Fashion Weeks going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lynn also cites Kylie Jenner<\/a> as a likely inspiration, which could explain Meghan\u2019s recent appearance with SKIMS co-founder Emma Grede. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen how well Kylie Jenner\u2019s done with her make-up range \u2013 becoming a billionaire,\u201d says Lynn. \u201cSo I think Meghan is looking at these people and thinking, \u2018I can do that.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

While Lynn admits Meghan\u2019s previous projects have been \u201ca bit inconsistent\u201d, she thinks beauty could be the way forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom a PR perspective, she has something she could make a great success of,\u201d she says. \u201cIf she can adapt As Ever to make-up, beauty, fashion, she\u2019s got the makings of something.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s determined to make a success of her brand and she has enough confidence to believe she can do it,\u201d says our source. \u201cShe\u2019s not blind to the fact that her popularity is in the US. She doesn\u2019t need a royal seal of approval there and she\u2019s determined to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n
