You can\u2019t fling a\u00a0baguette in London these days without hitting a Gail\u2019s Bakery.\u00a0The posh chain has been steadily on the rise in the capital<\/a>, opening branches in Walthamstow<\/a>, Hackney, Stoke Newington, Primrose Hill<\/a> and more over the past year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now, the chain loved for its cinnamon buns and chicken sandwiches has just been\u00a0crowned Bakery Retailer of the Year in the\u00a0Baking Industry Awards 2025. Gail\u2019s beat\u00a0finalists Bird Bakery, Lidl, and M&S to clinch the top title.<\/p>\n

The Baking Industry Awards judged bakeries across the UK with mystery shoppers, looking at quality of food, drinks, ingredients and customer service. Top spot in the\u00a0Craft Bakery Business of the Year category was awarded to Grant\u2019s in Northumberland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gail\u2019s\u2019\u00a0astronomical rise in the UK (it now has 170 sites in the country) was partially to thank for the win. It was also praised for its use of \u2018diverse grains\u2019, British farming and its \u2018knowledgeable and enthusiastic\u2019 staff members.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018Having been named a finalist last year, the business forged ahead on its strategic vision to \u201cmake exceptional craft baking a part of every community\u201d, making some serious progress on the way,\u2019 said the Baking Industry Awards. \u2018This includes adding more than 30 new sites to its estate.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s clear to see the mission-led business strategy is working,\u2019 said one judge, adding that the \u2018focus on delivering good food sustainably and not compromising on this shows great responsibility within the industry\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n
