{"id":528922,"date":"2025-10-26T10:22:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-26T10:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/528922\/"},"modified":"2025-10-26T10:22:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-26T10:22:11","slug":"solihull-students-enjoy-poetry-workshop-with-legend-spoz-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/528922\/","title":{"rendered":"Solihull students enjoy poetry workshop with legend Spoz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\t\tA SOLIHULL school welcomed back poet Spoz \u2013 Esposito Giovanni \u2013 for workshop with Year 8 learners this month.<br \/>\nStudents at Cockshut Hill School, part of the Summit Learning Trust, enjoyed exploring poetry, with the theme of the power of hair.<\/p>\n<p>Working in teams, learners wrote and performed their own poems,<\/p>\n<p>A \u2018Brummie Poet,\u2019 Spoz is an award-winning performance poet, singer-songwriter, filmmaker, and playwright, and he also served as poet-in-residence at Birmingham City FC.<\/p>\n<p>He previously held the title of Birmingham\u2019s Poet Laureate and was one of six \u2018Bards of Brum\u2019 featured in the 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Spoz said: \u201cWhat a great bunch of Year 8 students, the best I\u2019ve come across lately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was wonderful to see their journey from shy and reserved at first to oozing confidence throughout the day. They showed great tenacity and resilience. It will be a pleasure to come back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jody Clarke,\u00a0 principal at Cockshut Hill, added: \u201cSpoz set the tone of the day right from the start.
