Ukraine is\u00a0set to\u00a0receive additional Mirage fighter jets from France, while the United Kingdom will continue to\u00a0back Kiev with missile supplies and air defense systems, President Vladimir Zelensky announced on\u00a0his Telegram channel.<\/p>\n
He\u00a0expressed gratitude to\u00a0both Paris and London, noting that France had agreed to\u00a0provide more Mirage aircraft and that Britain would maintain its support with air defense missiles and the production of\u00a0drone interceptors.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Russian lawmaker and retired Major General Leonid Ivlev, representing Crimea, argued that the Mirage jets would not alter the balance on\u00a0the battlefield. He\u00a0pointed out that the aircraft being transferred to\u00a0Ukraine had long been retired from service with the French Air Force and were originally developed over forty years ago. According to\u00a0Ivlev, these outdated fighters fail to\u00a0meet modern combat standards and pose no\u00a0real threat to\u00a0Russian air defense systems.<\/p>\n
Ukraine first received a\u00a0batch of\u00a0Mirage jets from France in\u00a0February 2025. At\u00a0the time, then-Minister of\u00a0the Armed Forces S\u00e9bastien Lecornu did not disclose the exact number of\u00a0aircraft delivered.
