An annual \u2018pumpkin dip\u2019 event has taken place at a Co Down beach, with dozens of hardy souls braving the cold to take to the water.<\/p>\n

Donning carved pumpkin heads, the swimmers headed to Helens Bay on Sunday afternoon, with the event kicking off at 3pm to mark the run-up to Halloween.<\/p>\n

Held for the first time in 2022, the event was celebrating its fourth anniversary this year.<\/p>\n

Each year the organisers raise funds for charity, with proceeds from this year\u2019s swim going towards Action Mental Health<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The charity, which began in Downpatrick, Co Down in 1963, actively promotes the mental health and well-being of people in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n
