It might be hard to believe it but October half-term<\/a> is upon us and that means keeping the kids occupied while they are off school for a week.<\/p>\n

With Halloween at the end of the week there\u2019s lots of spooky-themed activities and events taking place across Great Manchester, from scary ghost trains to creepy walking trails.<\/a><\/p>\n

October is also a brilliant time to head outside on a family walk and explore some of the amazing landscapes we have right on our doorstep. Not to mention it\u2019s a great opportunity to make the most of the stunning autumn colours.<\/p>\n

But sometimes the weather doesn\u2019t always play ball and outdoor activities come to the forefront.<\/p>\n

Luckily there are plenty of museums to visit and one of them has a brand new exhibition which has just launched in time for October half term.<\/p>\n

Manchester Museum is offering kids the chance to get up close to an impressive fossilised Triceratops skull, as part of the ‘Triceratops: Eat, Roam, Repeat’ exhibition which opened over the weekend.<\/a><\/p>\n

Visitors will be able to learn more about how this three-horned giant lived, what it ate and how it survived fights with predators such as the terrifying T. rex.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is completely free to enter, and will run until February 22, 2026.<\/p>\n

It invites visitors to step back in time and gives them a glimpse into the Cretaceous world that Triceratops once inhabited, evoking the sights, sounds and creatures of the time.<\/p>\n

There are hands-on, interactive elements, such as a digital touch replica of the Triceratops skull that will allow visitors to feel its facial features.<\/p>\n

Families will be able to take part in a fossil dig and learn about how palaeontologists piece together prehistoric history.<\/p>\n

As well as the new exhibition, kids can see Stan the T-Rex, a longstanding resident at the museum. They can also marvel at the Vivarium, a collection of live amphibians and reptiles, including many critically endangered species.<\/p>\n

The museum has its own onsite cafe serving up breakfast, lunch and snack options.<\/p>\n
