Last financial year, the West Midlands hub hit a new record of more than 13m passengers, this year\u00a014m people are expected and, by 2033 that number is\u00a0forecast to\u00a0reach 18m. So, with numbers expected to just keep growing, the airport has\u00a0revealed how it\u00a0plans to spend \u00a3300m over the next four years (that\u2019s around \u00a375m spent each year up to 2029).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As part of its \u2018biggest investment plan to date\u2019, there\u2019ll be three new food and drink outlets in\u00a0the departure lounge, improvements to the airfield, extra capacity for handling baggage, a refresh of toilet facilities and more e-gates introduced. The new food and beverage outlets are expected to open in 2026, but its not been confirmed what they\u2019ll be yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In April,\u00a0Birmingham Airport\u00a0airport announced that \u00a310m\u00a0would be\u00a0going towards improving\u00a0its arrivals hub,\u00a0with an additional baggage carousel and a larger border control area. Around \u00a340m has been set aside for the work on the airfield, which will include\u00a0reconstructing parts of the taxiways, new stands for aircraft and new lights.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hoped that these improvements will improve passenger experience and help the airport accommodate more travellers over the coming years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"28f97aa9-f4c2-90c5-567e-b5ada41ff6bb\" class=\"photo lazy inline\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"lazy-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1761574693_564_image.webp.webp\" alt=\"Birmingham Airport, UK\" data-caption=\"\" data-credit=\"Photograph: Ceri Breeze \/ Shutterstock.com\" data-width-class=\"\" data-image-id=\"106335409\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\nPhotograph: Ceri Breeze \/ Shutterstock.com&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Nick Barton, CEO of Birmingham Airport said: \u2018We are currently in our most successful year ever at the airport and we are confident this growth is set to continue. We have already made significant investment in the airport this year, having delivered new departure gates, lounges on the international pier, additional security lanes, new retail offerings and baggage capacity to name only a few projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Our plan for the next three to four years shows how we are on our way to delivering more choice for our passengers and enhanced service, whilst continuing the journey to net zero.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>High ambitions\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Brum\u2019s not the only airport getting\u00a0a major makeover.
