One of the ten players released by Hull KR at the end of the 2025 season has now signed with an ambitious Championship club.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was an incredible campaign for Hull KR as they broke their 40-year trophy drought in style, becoming just the fifth team to win the treble in the Super League era.<\/p>\n

For stars such as Micky McIlorum and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, it was a fitting end to their career with the veteran pair both retiring after the Grand Final win over Wigan Warriors.<\/p>\n

For others among the ten to leave Craven Park<\/a>, it\u2019s a chapter in their rugby league career that they won\u2019t forget and that\u2019s the case for young half-back\/hooker Lennie Ellis, who has now been confirmed as signing for Sheffield Eagles.<\/p>\n

Ellis debuted for Hull KR in the 2023 Super League season with that appearance being the only competitive one he made for the Robins as he featured in their Reserves side or out on loan in 2024 and 2025. He did also play in their 2025 pre-season game against York Knights in Amsterdam.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s now become the ninth signing that Sheffield Eagles have made with Craig Lingard\u2019s squad shaping up nicely for 2026.<\/p>\n

Lennie Ellis finds new club after Hull KR exit<\/p>\n

Still only 20, Ellis is adept at hooker or in the halves, and he proved that whilst out on loan in 2025, first playing in League One with Goole Vikings before then linking up with London Broncos.<\/p>\n

Playing hooker for Goole, he then started in the halves for London later in the year and that could be where he finds himself playing with Sheffield as the Eagles have announced him as a half-back.<\/p>\n

Speaking on his move, Ellis said: \u201cI\u2019m buzzing to join, I heard the club\u2019s going in the right direction and I\u2019m really pleased to sign here.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been great to be part of the Hull KR side this year that won the treble, it\u2019s kind of made me hungrier for success and hopefully it\u2019s something I can bring with me to Sheffield for next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Head coach Craig Lingard said: \u201cLennie has got some good qualities about himself as a young half, and I\u2019m really excited to see what he can do.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe can also play a bit of nine, so hopefully he can step into the side and really develop his game this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Eagles have made a number of impressive signings for 2026 with Jordan Lilley and Kieran Gill arriving from Bradford Bulls<\/a> whilst former Castleford men George Griffin and Josh Hodson have linked up with former coach Craig Lingard.<\/p>\n
