Police cordoned off a street in Manchester city centre this evening (April 26) after reports of youths climbing scaffolding.<\/p>\n

An area on the corner of Chapel Walks and Cheapside, just off King Street, was taped off. The Manchester Evening News understands police received reports of kids ‘occupying’ a building which is being developed.<\/p>\n

The cordon was put in place for the safety of those below. No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> (GMP) have been approached for a statement.<\/p>\n

An eyewitness, the journalist Adam Clark, said there were four police cars at the scene.<\/p>\n

He said three riots shields were brought out by officers, whilst one officer was seen climbing the building.<\/p>\n
