Former Leeds United<\/a> striker Patrick Bamford<\/a> has been training with high-flying Coventry City.<\/p>\n

The 32-year old had been in talks to join Spanish side Getafe but with that deal failing to materialise, he is maintaining his fitness by working with the Championship pacesetters.<\/p>\n

Manager Frank Lampard<\/a> knows Bamford from their time together at Chelsea<\/a> when the striker had been signed as a player of potential from Nottingham Forest<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bamford has gone on to carve out a decent career notably with Leeds but a series of niggling injuries meant Daniel Farke<\/a> took the difficult decision to give the green light to the club cancelling his contract by mutual consent in the summer.<\/p>\n

Bamford arrived at Coventry’s training ground on Thursday after contacting Lampard, his former team-mate at Stamford Bridge, and being invited to Ryton to get fit while he continues to look for a new team.<\/p>\n

Sky Blues boss Frank Lampard said he was doing his former Chelsea team-mate ‘a favour’<\/p>\n

Lampard said: ‘I guess you could call it doing him a favour.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘I know Patrick well and he hasn\u2019t got a club. He\u2019s training with us. I\u2019m very happy, he\u2019s a good lad, Patrick. He\u2019s very easy.<\/p>\n

‘I know the conclusions everyone\u2019s going to get to but he\u2019s just training with us.’<\/p>\n
