University of Salford students are set to play a leading role in an upcoming performance backed by a Manchester Orchestra and a contemporary dance company.<\/strong><\/p>\n The student dancers and costume designers will take centre stage for a performance of Black Skies Over Blue Hawaii at The Stroller Hall will be supported by charity orchestra Manchester Camerata and contemporary dance company, Company Chameleon.<\/p>\n The production, Black Skies Over Blue Hawaii will take place in Manchester on Thursday 30 October at 7.30pm.<\/p>\n Blending live orchestral music and contemporary dance, the performance reimagines Mozart\u2019s Symphony No. 35 \u2018Haffner\u2019 as a story told through movement and sound.<\/p>\n Students from Salford\u2019s MA Dance and Professional Practices and BA Costume Design programmes have contributed choreography and costume design to the project as part of their coursework and live industry briefs.<\/p>\n This new collaboration offers Salford students valuable professional experience, working alongside established artists and performers to create a large-scale production. They aim to redefine what a dance company and an orchestra can achieve together.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Manchester Camerata said: \u201cWe\u2019re proud to spotlight the incredible work of students from the University of Salford\u2019s MA Dance and Professional Practices and BA Costume Design programmes. Their contributions \u2014 from choreography to costume \u2014 have helped shape this production through live briefs and hands-on collaboration.\u201d<\/p>\n
