Leeds were unable to deliver a lucrative striker signing for Daniel Farke during the summer transfer window.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The German was instead given two free transfers to bolster that area in the form of Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who were added to Joel Piroe in the striker department.<\/p>\n

None of the trio have set the world alight for Leeds<\/a> so far this season with just two Premier League goals between the three of them, but things could have been a lot worse had \u00a332m been spent on Rodrigo Muniz<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Leeds appear to have saved a fortune as Rodrigo Muniz struggles<\/p>\n

Leeds bid \u00a332m for the Fulham No.9<\/a> back in June after he scored eight goals in 31 Premier League appearances last season, believing the Brazilian could help out significantly in the battle for survival.<\/p>\n

However, Leeds actually find themselves three points and two places above the Cottagers at the time of writing, with Muniz on a run of six games without a goal across all competitions. <\/p>\n

The South American only has one goal in seven appearances this term, which came in a 1-1 draw against Brighton on the opening day.<\/p>\n

Muniz admitted his head had been turned<\/a> by interest in his services, offering a possible reason for his lack of goals so far this season.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old said: \u201cThis game (opening day vs Brighton) was a little bit strange. Two weeks before, it was two tough weeks for me in the head. I went to the game because I\u2019m a professional guy, I knew I was going to score, I knew I needed one chance to score and I scored in the last minute, it was really good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Calvert-Lewin has come in for criticism<\/a> amid a slow start to life at Leeds, but there would be far more fingers pointed at the England international had he cost \u00a332m, to say the very least. <\/p>\n

Leeds still have eyes on Rodrigo Muniz alternative in January<\/p>\n

Muniz eventually signed a new deal with Fulham which runs until July 2030, although there is another striker Leeds like who still has an uncertain future.<\/p>\n

Leeds are targeting Jean-Philippe Mateta<\/a> in the winter transfer window, according to Caught Offside, a player the Whites also tried to sign from Mainz 05 before his move to Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n

Mateta recently said the south Londoners are yet to even offer him a new contract, which comes as a surprise considering he will only have 12 months left on his terms at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
