{"id":534174,"date":"2025-10-28T22:40:15","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T22:40:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/534174\/"},"modified":"2025-10-28T22:40:15","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T22:40:15","slug":"sam-greenwood-proves-leeds-united-spot-on-as-3-5m-sale-now-looks-utter-genius","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/534174\/","title":{"rendered":"Sam Greenwood proves Leeds United spot on as \u00a33.5m sale now looks utter genius"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Leeds didn\u2019t make many permanent sales during the summer transfer window.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/rasmus-kristensen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rasmus Kristensen<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/sam-greenwood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sam Greenwood<\/a> were sold for fees, with the latter moving to Pogon Szczecin in a \u00a33.5m deal while the Dane joined Eintracht Frankfurt for \u00a37.7m after spending last season on loan with the German side.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/?p=116877\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kristensen is enjoying himself in Frankfurt<\/a> \u2013 although Greenwood is still waiting for his career in Poland to truly take off after departing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leeds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sam Greenwood still searching for first Pogon Szczecin goal after seven games<\/p>\n<p>Pogon Szczecin smashed their transfer record to sign the 23-year-old back in August, a deal which saw Leeds make a \u00a32m profit, having spent \u00a31.5m to take him from Arsenal in August 2020.<\/p>\n<p>It was something of a welcome surprise for Leeds, considering Greenwood had failed to convince either Middlesbrough or Preston to sign him permanently across a spell on loan with each Championship side in the 2023\/24 and 2024\/25 campaigns respectively. <\/p>\n<p>However, Pogon Szczecin are still waiting for a return on their investment.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"594\" height=\"396\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2237904309.jpg\" alt=\"Sam Greenwood in action for Pogon Szczecin\" \/>Photo by Grzegorz Wajda\/SOPA Images\/LightRocket via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/mateusz-klich-reunites-with-former-leeds-united-teammate-as-nod-to-marcelo-bielsa-spotted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greenwood \u2013 who recently faced Mateusz Klich<\/a> in Poland \u2013 has failed to score in seven Ekstraklasa appearances for his new side, although he does have two assists to show for his efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The Pogon Szczecin No.90 actually helped inflict a 2-1 defeat on Klich and Cracovia with his latest assist, setting up Kamil Grosicki for the winner.<\/p>\n<p>MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES<\/p>\n<p>  Leeds will hope Sam Greenwood improves amid significant sell-on clause<\/p>\n<p>That \u00a33.5m sale currently looks a shrewd one from Leeds, although those at Elland Road will want Greenwood to become a success in Poland, and not just on a human level.<\/p>\n<p>Leeds negotiated a 20% sell-on clause in the deal, entitling them to a fair chunk of the profits should the England U21 international make a lucrative transfer before his three-year contract ends.<\/p>\n<p>There is still plenty of time for that to happen, although Greenwood will undoubtedly have hoped for a better start to life in Poland. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Leeds didn\u2019t make many permanent sales during the summer transfer window.
