Leeds are considering a move for Haji Wright in January.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sources have informed Leeds United News<\/strong> that Wright is being scouted<\/a> ahead of a potential swoop in the winter transfer window \u2013 the American has impressively started the season with nine goals in just 13 games for Coventry.<\/p>\n

Should Leeds<\/a> firm up their interest in Wright, he has a very close friend who can offer plenty of advice about a switch to Elland Road<\/a> in Weston McKennie<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Weston McKennie has already given Haji Wright a strong character reference as 49ers consider move<\/p>\n

The Texan made 20 appearances for Leeds while on loan from Juventus in the 2022\/23 campaign, but failed to impress as the Whites were relegated.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, McKennie and Wright go way back, adding an interesting dimension to the story.<\/p>\n

The pair made 34 appearances alongside each other for three different teams \u2013 the Schalke U19 side, Schalke and also the United States \u2013 combining for one goal.<\/p>\n

McKennie \u2013 who learned from his time at Leeds<\/a> \u2013 seems to idolise Wright, previously telling the official Bundesliga<\/a> website: \u201cHe\u2019s one of the guys that if you keep pushing, keep giving him confidence, you\u2019ll see what type of player he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

In May 2022 \u2013 after Wright earned a call into the United States side \u2013 McKennie said: \u201cI think it\u2019s beautiful\u2026 I think just for him, finding his own path to get back in here is definitely one that\u2019s inspirational and something that I can kind of relate to. It\u2019s wonderful and exciting just to see him in here, and kind of sharing the same story at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n

January could be the only chance Leeds get to sign Haji Wright<\/p>\n

This deal is an ambitious one for several reasons \u2013 in our view \u2013 and January might be the only realistic window for Leeds to wrap up an agreement. <\/p>\n

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in the United States \u2013 Wright\u2019s homeland \u2013 meaning he could see his value absolutely soar if he turns out to be a star of the tournament.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, his value could soar regardless if he helps Coventry seal promotion to the Premier League \u2013 they currently sit three points clear at the summit.<\/p>\n
